Abs

I started my truck one day got in and the ABS light was on and the truck was making a "humming" noise. Turned off the truck and the noise kept going so I crawled under and saw what was making the sound. Its under the truck right below the driver seat and it makes a noise that sounds like a small little motor turning. I don't know what it is but I drove to my doctors appointment, which is a 2 minute drive on this small of a post, and the ABS did not work. It was still going after I turned off my truck so i crawled under and unplugged the electrical connection and it stopped. Now that its disconnected the truck thinks my Emergency brake is on as well as the ABS does not work. The truck is a 2001 GMC Sierra 5.3L with 4WD. Can anybody please tell me what the "thing" is that is making the noise? I can not seem to find it on internet because i have no idea what to type in! If you need pictures I will get some ASAP, just let me know.

Its the abs module that is running continuously and is probably bad.

Needs a new EBCM (ABS module/computer). The internal relay to run the pump motor is stuck on. Common problem with '99-'01 trucks.

Not to steal the thread...... I have a 01 Impala that this sound like it might be the problem. It gets louder the faster you go. It sounds like a humming sound or like road noise like tires would make only louder. Also when you let off the gas it lowers in tone. Might this be what problem is as in this thread?

No, you need a hub bearing assembly.

Not to steal the thread...... I have a 01 Impala that this sound like it might be the problem. It gets louder the faster you go. sorry to bring back this old post but does anybody have the part number. all i can find is a wheel speed sensor. thanks

I thoguht mine was bad recently but turned out to be a bearing....

 

Check with these guys... They might be able to repair it hopefully for your sake... otherwise your looking at $800-2k depending on which mudule u have from what i read... Good luck
