Can anyone tell me if the Denali with the Bose has different speakers than a non Bose system? I am assuming yes? Also des anyone have a part number and pic of a Bose sound system speaker and a non Bose sound system speaker if they are different?

This is n an 08 Denali. Dealer is putting in new speakers to replace aftermarket ones that are in there. I just want to make sure they are not cheaping ut and putting in regular speakers rather than the ones that wuld go with Bse sound. This again if they are different. I just want t be able to have them pop the speaker cover so I can look and make sure they are replaced with the ones that would have come with a truck that had a Bose system. Just dont knw the difference between what a stock speaker or a Bose speaker would look like.

Thanks

They may not look that that much different. You may have to pull a product number off of the speaker and run it on google. Or it may be marked Bose of the rear, on the magnet. OR you could turn it up and check its quality. Theres a huge difference between the bose system and the factory system if you have an ear for sound.

It would be nice if I was able to see a pic of both and see if there is a visible difference. If not good idea on just checking the part number. It has to be on the speaker somewhere. Anyone know where I can get the part number for the bose speaker and a non Bose just to check it out? A pic of a Bose and non Bose speaker would be key if they look different.

Thanks

Hissing noise is gone now that stero is back to stock. The factory AMP was bad becuase the spliced of that to after market one. If they would have gone direct to new AMP factory would not have been toast. So now I am out $800 but hissing noise is gone.

Gues I will sell the after marke Memphis speakers and AMP and re cover some money

Here are what the Bose speakers look like.

I personally do not like the sound of the factory Bose speakers. I want to replace them in my wife's TrailBlazed but she doesnt have a good ear for sound and thinks they sound fine. She can't see spending the money. I personally went with Infinity Kappas all the way around in my Silverado. I am very happy with them.

I have a buddy that has a 05 with the bose sound. He has always thought they sounded great, and his wife (who does not know good sound if it bit her on the ass) thought all stereos are the same. I had a bunch of work done to my stereo (amps, speakers, line out adaptors and sub) and let them listen. My buddy now wants to change his to be like mine and his wife cannot believe she thought theirs was just fine, all stereos sound the same.

I like the bose systems pretty good. It sounds a lot better than factory standard. But I still think it could be better. I mainly wish mine had a lot more power a volume. I would have though the memphis would have been way better. Except for the hissing, how was the memphis speakers. Really loud?

How do you like the Kappas? I'm thinking about replacing the stock speakers in my 2011 Silverado crew cab (doors only).

Completely replacing the Bose system sounds like a lot of work. I added a sub to my Bose system so I'm mostly happy with it. I would love some kind of tutorial though that went for replacing the head unit, new amp, and how to conect to all the speakers. That starts getting over my head.

I love them. I've had them since July of '08 and would have a hard time finding an equivilent sounding speaker for the price. I put the Kappa 60.9cs components in the front and the 469.2cfp 4x6 plates in the rear. I did attenuate the front tweeters they were a little bright for my liking. Thats just a simple crossover setting.

heres what they look like all mounted up.

I modified the factory tweeter bracket to hold the Infinity tweeters.

all in all, the factory stuff is junk. I don't care what it says on it, monsoon, bose, whatever.

you really paid 800 for a new factory amp???

Posted

No they pulled out all the aftermarket stuff and re wired the whole truck. They put in new speakers, amp and wiring harness. If I would have known 800 going into it I would have kept the aftermarket equip. The hissing nise I had is gone which was really pissing me off.

They completly gutted the inside of the truck to re wire. Can you tell me what sub yu went with and how hard was it to install? I am assuming there are only certain sub's you can you use so you don't fry the factory amp.

Has anyone replaced just the bose door speakers and kept the head unit and bose amp. I have a 2009 Sierra with bose and wondered if just replacing the door speakers would improve sound over stock bose speakers. I would keep factory sub, tweeters, head unit and amp.

I am curious on the speaker replacements for the Bose speakers as well. I am having a JL13tw5 and 500/1v2 slash amp installed on Saturday and really only want to changeout door speakers without the remaining amp and headunit process to go through. My understanding is the stock Bose door speakers are 3 ohms so if you put in 4 ohm speakers it would seem you may lose amp rms wattage but if you go 2 ohm do you overload the Bose amp?

    • Just did an injector/HPFP replacement on Pepper at 192,400 miles; close enough to 200K, RIGHT? (If 200K is considered life end and to me it isn't). But hey, to each his own.    Have never run a catch can on this vehicle. Back side of every valve looked like a new valve spray painted semigloss black. Port walls looked 'neat' (all a normal result of passive EGR via VVT) Zero build up even in AFM cylinders. Just color. It uses no measurable oil and never has.    At 155,000 I put her on E-85 and a borescope of the cylinders at plug change showed very clean pistons and valve faces. The replaced injector tips looked new. (It was the pump piston seal that was leaking). Oh well, have six good backups.    Still gets 28 mpg on gas (highway average) and over 20 (highway) on alky. UOA's look good and runs as good now as it did when I bought it. Better in fact.    What improvement would a Catch Can provide this motor?     And given all this I expect that IF I installed one I'd see some water/gas/oil vapor accumulation. Byproducts of normal combustion.   Having said that, IF my motor used an appreciable amount of oil I'd consider it a useful 'crutch' until I had the situation corrected OR if bore polished, until I junked it or rebuilt it to stave off repeated plug fouling.    I'm not telling you what I THINK. But what its DONE.
    • Love the look. I'm a SCSB lover myself.    Two items. 1.) A spacer changes scrub radius but this also changes when we use wheels of different offsets. A little isn't a big deal. 2.) Steel wheels, alloy wheels all have different thickness. Same effect on the stud and lug nut as a spacer. When hub centric the wheel isn't supported by the stud. It's supported by the hub. The stud just keeps it all together.
    • I had a evap sol go bad a couple weeks ago. . I replaced it.  While watching live data at the time I saw I had some cylinder 1 misfires. No MIL but on live data I could see ~50 at startup and about 70 more after an hour a drive all on cyl 1.  I also noticed that the LTFT were -5% to -15% always.  And that bank 2 is always -3% richer than bank 1. Even across all driving modes, city, highway, etc it’s always 3% richer than bank 1. So I start with the misfire. Swapped coil, plug, and plug wires from 1 to 3. No follow. I got an Injector reseal kit, pulled the D/s injector rail, swapped #1 and #3 injectors, resealed them, reinstalled and retested.  The misfire followed to 3. So I ordered and replaced all 8 injectors, spark plugs, and plug wires. Also replaced the 1 time use fuel pipes under the intake manifold.  Injectors that were in the truck since new were  Part # 12668390.  I replaced them with # 12742701 Got from RockAuto. Pretty certain they’re genuine and the correct ones. I called a friend at a parts store who told me “the 12742701 were the correct superseded part # for the originals I was replacing”. So started truck after replacing all that and it’s running -15 - -30 LTFTs. I reset the fuel trims with GDS2 and drove it for a 60 miles trip each way. There have been no changes in the LTFTs.  I checked if the HPFP was leaking into the crankcase. I removed the pvc and watched the trims. No difference.  I checked the alcohol content and it was at 10%  I’m out of ideas here. Truck seems to run great. Just always rich on the fuel trims.  Anyone with any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.  I ran an injector balance test just for the heck of it and it came back this. I’m confused.  I have gds2 and some other diag tools if anyone knows of anything I should test next.
