New Magnaflow

Just had a 14 inch magnaflow muffler installed. Behind the can is just 12 or 15 inches of pipes turned down at a 45.

It looks really close to the driveshaft but there is plenty room. Should there be any concern with it pointing towards the Axle?

Sound bites, before and after.

The pipe is so short because I am cheap and I don't really like seeing tailpipes. They always end up looking like crap anyways. It is no louder in the cab than the stock exhaust, and it doesn't drone. I had the stock exhaust cut off at the last bracket and it was pretty annoying inside. I may, in the future, put a longer pipe towards the back of the truck but keep it unseen...

It is the 14" magnaflow. I can get the stock number later. I don't recognize "4x9 or 5x8" Sorry.

Thanks

magnaflow has two different types of oval 14" mufflers, one is a 4"x9" can, and the other is a 5"X8" can. do you have the part number for this muffler? sounds really good! im looking at a magnaflow muffler for my sierra, but cant decide on the 4x9, or 5x8. the 4x9 is slightly smaller in volume, and thus should be a little louder than the 5x8

Don't know about your state (WV) but there are states that your truck won't pass inspection because the exhaust doesn't exit behind the cab. Hope you looked into that before you did this mod.

That is the case in WV and mine exits at least a foot behind the cab.

I don't have the part number. I measured the can and it is less than 4 inches thick so my guess would be 4x9.

not to jack this thread, but i have had 3 different flowmaster mufflers on my last truck which was a regular cab, 50 series(quiet inside, and outside unless taching 3500RPM+) original 40 series, which became anoying inside the cab(now i have an extended cab, so might not be as bad???) and last but not least, i had the super 44 series which sounded mean, but IMO didnt have much of the flowmaster sound.

i just thought about trying a different "more open" magnaflow muffler. i just dont want an annoying drone inside the cab.
