Rear Fenderwell Liners

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have seen some of the pics here of those who installed the rear fenderwell liners.

I think even though I like the spray on that I have seen, these will be easier for me to install, and I have seen some trucks at the dealer and they look nice with them on.

Mine are due to be delivered the end of the week and I was wondering what tips would help make the installation easier.

I know one problem I have is that years ago I broke my back and the last time I removed the rear wheels (20" wheels) they were heavy. They must weight 60lbs ea. But I know they should come off.

Any tips you could offer would be helpful.

Thanks

The wheels need to come off to put the screws in unless you can get a hold of a small right angle air drill. Thats what I used and left my wheels on, also when putting them in get the outter edge snapped in before pushing the inner section into place against the frame. Doing this will let you bend and twist the liner beacuse its a tight fit.

I didn't even remove my wheels/tires to install mine (though I only have the 17" wheels). They fit right over the wheels, tilted up, and snapped into place. I didn't even use the mounting hardware, as they were a tight fit.

Same here.

I was able to just slide the liners right over the wheels and into position. You could even jack the rear up to get a little more clearance if you had to. Like hammerhead said, you probably wouldn't need to use any fasteners because it is such a snug fit, but I did use the "lip" push pins just to be on the safe side.

It took a bit of muscle and whole lot of patience but I managed to put mine on without removing the wheels or jacking up the rear. (Mine has 20s as well.) I never screwed them in either, they are super tight. I did use the push pins but they aren't even necessary. Looks way nicer with these on.

Same here, I have 20s and didn't take 'em off. You just have to wrestle them around and little and they'll go in. I put the supplied fasteners in the outer lip but I didn't drill any holes. If you wanted to you'd have to have an angle drill w/o removing the wheels. They fit snug and aren't going anywhere. You'll see when you get 'em in.

I didn't have to take mine off either (18's). They just slid right over, and I tuck them in to the lip. You don't need the hardware, but I put mine in anyways.

I got the 18" wheels & I didn't remove them, I used a dremel tool with a right angle drill attachment and it fit perfect

between the tire & fenderwell. Drilled small holes and screwed the liner to the fenderwell where the instructions

showed.

I have the GM OEM plastic liners.

I also used the dremel drill to put on the GM splash guards without removing the tire.

Fantastic little power tool.

I didn't have to remove my tires. just taped anything I didn't want overspray on and sprayed a can of 6 dollar undercoating on. That was a year ago. still looks tits.

Yeah, if I had t to do over again, I would have done that vs. $100 at the dealership. Whatever you do, make sure they are the ones for your truck (Gmc or Chevy). You would think they would fit either one, but they don't. Dealership gave me GMC's and said they would fit, but they wouldn't fit my chevy. Had to exchange them.

If you can, let them sit in the sun for 20 minutes to warm up. It will make them a little more flexable. If you would like a little more room for installation raise the truck by the frame to allow the wheel to drop.

My experience with them is that I would not drill any holes, the fit was very tight already.

I started the first one drilling two holes and found that the screws supplied went right

through the holes in the liner. They should have been larger screws or had a washer

to compensate. I stopped right after those 2 holes.
