Gun Holster For Trucks

I recently got my CCW and have a handgun in the truck when it is not on me. Those of you who have handguns where and how do you store them in your truck for easy access in the event that you need it. The console is not convenient while driving. I normally have it on the side of the seat in between the console, but if I were ever to have to get it out I would have to pull it out from between the seat then pull the holster off. I am not a fan of having the gun out of the holster and just placing it between the seat. I have tried velcro, double sided 3m tape and all will not hold. If you have some pics of how you keep them or some ideas for me it would be great.

My dad has a Ford F450 King Ranch, he hit his head I think, but he uses a thumb release holster attached to the console at his knee ... The holster has a metal belt hook on it, he roto zipped a slot and slipped it through the slot. The curve of the hook on the top catches on the top of the slot and prevents it from coming out when the gun is pulled. Hope I described it in way you can visulize it. Next time I see him i'll snap a pic...he lives about an hour from me.

Oh its 45 S&W auto with a 4 Inch barrel..I think

Best place to keep it is strong-side hip... If you have a ccw, no reason to have it any where else. If you haveto keep it in the truck, get a safe or someone is gonna steal it...

That's my 2 cents...

I plan to puchase a safe for the truck soon so if I do store it in there when I cannot keep an eye on it I know it wont be stolen. Unfortunately I cannot carry at work so I place it in the console hidden. Truck is also in view the whole time I am at work. However when I commute to and from work I want to have it immediatelly accessible just in case.

I can visualize it. That might be my last option. I was trying to avoid any cutting or drilling holes, but it my be the only option

what about mounting a holster on the panel below the steering wheel? or you could take that panel and have a hidden door retrofitted on it like your glove box and put it in there!!!

if you have a bench seat, the panel underneath your radio and a/c controls would work also.

like the truck in the movie "the Expendables"

I agree with keeping it on your your person. If and when the time comes that you actually need to use it you need to be able to draw without having to stop and think OK where is my gun at now? If they won't let you carry at work maybe inquire about lock boxes for them when you enter the building. If they don't like that idea maybe bring in your own lock box or safe and have it locked up all day inside where you are

Pretty sorry state of affair when you feel the need to carry a firearm just to get to work.

you'd be dumb not to carry where I work.

Nothing wrong with being prepared. Same reasoning for carrying a winter survival kit in the winter, hope to never use it but might get be deadly if you don't have it.

Best setup I saw was a home made solution- someone took a normal open top holster and used some fabric elastic-strap type material to lash it to the front of the bottom seat cushion so the grip was between your legs. If not there the other idea I just thought of would be to mount it to the front of the middle seat with the grip canted toward the driver seat. I keep mine holstered when driving. Not easy to access when in the cab but car jackings and such are all but nonexistent around me.

I know a girl who was car jacked at gunpoint on her way to work ...... and she lives in Alabama ......... morning drive broad daylight!

BTW didnt Louisiana pass some sort of law a few years back, where you can shoot a car jacker point blank if they have a weapon?

Personally, Im not gonna be concered with the law if Im getting carjacked. Seems to me that it would be a clear cut case of self defense, and should not require a specific law to grant someone permission to use potentially deadly force to protect themselves and their property from an ARMED assailant.

I know in Texas you can carry in your vehicle without a CC. I mainly keep mine for shooting hogs when I go into the woods, but its nice to know that I have it when I go places that Im not comfortable in, or have never been before.
