So When Will The Trucks Be Given Away?

A few years ago when gas prices spiked the manufactuers were giving insane discounts to move product off their lots. Now with these recent never ending price hikes I'm waiting patiently for the next fire sale. Anyone else in the same boat?

The last big sale I remember was when the government was subsidizing with the cash for clunkers. Not sure your going to see too much in the way of deeper discounts. The economy is suposedly recovering. I hear everyday how the real estate market here around D.C. is improving and not hurting as much like most other areas.

The big rebates usually show up during the summer when they are trying to move out the old models and are getting ready to bring in the new ones. Between that and the US dollar steadily dropping, I would expect some good incentives come July.

I bought my truck in Aug last year....sticker was 51K I paid 32K...I call that pretty good.

I also bought a cobalt for 17.5K out the door with 0% financing. Which we promptly traded 6 months later for a Cruze...lost a little on that one...but I have a much better car out of the deal.

For us, it was a last December. We ordered our new truck and traded in our 2008 Yukon XL Denali. We did some analysis and at the end of day, the Denali was depreciating every day and the new trucks were not coming down that much (incentives and rebates had been staying the same).

We finally got our new truck end of Feb. As the gas prices go up, the Denali would lose more value so we bit the bullet and got er done.

So far we are very pleased. If you do not need to sell/trade a vehicle to get into a new truck, then perhaps waiting some will get you a better price, but if you need to sell one (especially full size truck/suv), then you are only fooling yourself. The difference (new minus trade) will only get bigger IMHO.

That also depends....Trucks seem to drop quickly here, but than they get to a point where they hold they're value...only dropping slightly per year.

Case in point...I bought my 03 for 23k and trade in was 16k...3.5 years later....thats 2G a year.

I basically got what I had owing for the trade...than paid 32K and change and tax etc for the new truck...almost the same as walking in off the street and buying a truck. I believe there was a 14K rebate off the trucks, $1000 chrome addition package, and a g note in gas...plus I got 1000 for being a previous customer and 500 for military rebate.

Than I got a check for 100 bucks cause my buddy went in and bought a Z71 Colorado the next day...

Oh and they filled the tank gave me a spray in bed liner for cost, and first and 5th oil change free.

They did the same when we bought the Cruze, except it was the protection package we got at cost...the under coat, paint and fabric protection.

I don't know about GM trucks, but one of the local Dodge dealers is running an ad for '11 Ram Crew Cab Cummins, 4X4 2500 says loaded but I have not looked at them for $35,900 and a 1-ton for $38,900 if GM would match these prices I would buy right now.

Jeeze! I would get one too for those prices! Grant it it won't have the souped up new cummins diesel but still! Can you post a link to that add?

The ad was on radio for Superior Dodge in Conway, AR 72032. I hope this helps some.

with the economy recovering don't expect prices to drop much...stronger economy= more inflation...if your going to buy now is the time with the FED flooding the market with money interest rates are hella low
