not sure where else to put this,

ever since Daylight Savings Time i've notice a bug with setting the time. with the time zone set to where i'm located, my clock stays an hour behind. if i change it forward 1 hour, after a few minutes or after it cycles off/on the time changes back an hour. i had to change my time zone to get the right time :dunno:

anyone else getting this? or is there some top secret page i forgot about that has a daylight savings time button to toggle on/off?

Mine never picked up on the daylight savings on Sunday, so I had to manually set the time again. I figured putting in the time, date and time zone would have taken care of the daylight savings.

I have/had the same issue.

I also had the same issue. I had to change mine from mountain time to arizona in order for it to not keep changing my time.

Walt, should we call Advent and have them reference this? Or, start a new thread with people with the issue? I'm sure they'd want to get this fixed. It seems like quite a simple bug.

There was talk about the hidden menu in this thread....I think that was for the older firmware because I can not find a space under the word setting on the second page.

I would like to overide the DVD lock for my wife have as a passenger.

I had the same issue today. I was just trying to get in it, I don't know if in motion playback is locked out.

Yep, DVD/iPod video playback while in gear is locked out with the new update. Not terribly critical to me since I rarely have passengers and probably wouldn't let them watch a movie while I drive if I did (too distracting) but I don't like being bested by a damn machine. After dinner I spent far too long systematically searching for a hidden icon in the various service menus. No dice.

Do a screen calibration, then go to the second page of the settings menu and press-hold "Settings" at the top of the page. Sometimes it's a b*tch to get it to come up, but it will come up and give you that override option if you hit the right spot...

That did it. I thought about trying the calibration last night but figured everything else seemed spot on so I didn't bother.

I contacted Walt in regards to the splash screen changes...got back to me fast! Thanks

I then reached out with some issues I am having in the email but thought maybe its more appropiate here....so I will C/P part of it in hopes that I can get my issue resolved and also helpsomeone else in the meantime.

I am having difficulty getting my installation done right and I want to be fully informed when following up with my Dealer.

I got the OGM1 with the AVD35 DVD system installed in my new 2012 Enclave. The dealer had an outside crew come in for the install. They installed the iPod (JLINK) in the glove box and a composite input for the AVD35 (AV2) at the rear bottom of the center console. This left me with the AVD35 completely isolated from the main Head Unit? I brought it back so I could get it done right, so that I could control/play a DVD or use my iPod input from the head unit to send the video back to the rear screen and have proper audio for all the rear passengers (not just the lucky 2 with the headphones) All they did was add a composite cable from the head unit to the composite inputs previously installed! So now I have these ugly plugs there in the console and the wires folded back and run inside the console to the radio? (pic attached) I'm dumfounded that anybody in the buisness of professional installations would consider this a proper fix?

My question is....what is the designed way for this Radio to be integrated with the AVD35, I'm guessing this is certainly not it!

Thanks for any help you may have for me to deal with this....I love the car, my first one ever over $15k and I just want this to be done right without shortcuts.

    • I don't think so. 😏 Cars? Our experience will diverge there as well. I was buying cars with 200K (1970's) when I started and quite a few were pretty solid cars. (My early stuff was 1964 to 1968)  Some stinkers but not the dismal picture painted above. Now that said, yes, a dealer wouldn't talk to you if your car had more than 60K on the clock and lot cars were 60K or less except the back row where 100-120K was the auction bought for dirt for us poor losers. Kids in my county were not allowed to wear long pants if they couldn't rebuild and repair every part of that beast.    I will agree that many parts are now better. Alternators and charging systems are an envy. But I replaced few water pumps or power steering pumps then. Rebuilt carburetors but replaced few. Mufflers are another place of OEM improvement. Stainless? We didn't have no stink'n stainless.    As long as humans are in charge of governance this $$$$ situation will not improve.    The purchasing power of a dollar in 1955 is significantly higher than in 2025, meaning that a dollar could buy more goods and services in 1955 compared to 2025 due to inflation over the years. For example, what you could buy for $1 in 1955 would require approximately $10.50 in 2025.  Calculator.net inflationtool.com   Comparison of Purchasing Power: 1955 vs 2025 The purchasing power of a dollar has changed significantly from 1955 to 2025 due to inflation. Below is a breakdown of how much more money is needed in 2025 to match the buying power of a dollar in 1955. Purchasing Power Overview Year Equivalent Value of $1 in 1955 1955 $1.00 2025 $10.50 Key Points Inflation Impact: The value of money decreases over time due to inflation, meaning that the same amount of money buys fewer goods and services in the future. Example of Inflation: What could be purchased for $1 in 1955 would require approximately $10.50 in 2025. This illustrates how inflation has eroded the purchasing power of the dollar over the decades. Understanding these changes in purchasing power is crucial for financial planning and assessing economic conditions over time.  Wikipedia Calculator.net
    • The thermometer has been in my wife's 2008 envoy, my sons 2016 chevy, my friends 2020 1500 silverado all showing cooler readings. It's not the guage.
    • Have a question concerning trim levels. Ive not bought a new vehicle since 2006, and I have decided on a 2500 gmc pro or silverado custom. For anyone that has one of these 2 trim levels have you regretted not stepping up to the LT or SLE. I look at things as the more electronics the more problems to arise. I love the look of the old school gauges on the dash as well. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
    • If that guage has a way to adjust [hex on bottom], put that thing in a glass full of ice, put water in, put your gage in, let it sit for 3 minutes or so, and set it to 33 degrees.
