So 2 of my buds and me decided to get the 2007+ Silverados Regular Cab this month. They both got 5.3s and i got a 4.8 (mine was $5000) cheaper. Now my question is how could i keep up with them since they are always trying to race me. Im on a $1,000 budget right now. What should i buy and why? :flag:

blackbear tune, and maybe some headders or gears??

Where's can i get this blackbear tune i been hearing about so much? Do you guys recommend getting some other parts (ex Jet chip, K&N, gearing) and then the blackbear? :flag:

well as soon as you get this tune, your 5.3 buddies most likely will go out and do the same thing so you might not want to waste your money

Cam swap, higher stall converter and BB tune :flag:

Possible gear swap if you have 3.23's or 3.42's

What gears did you all get?(did not intend to sound like a southerner there) How did you get two buddies to agree to both purchase the same vehicle? Sounds strange to me actually. Are all three trucks the same except the engine? All got the same gear set? All the same year? All got the 4 speed? All got about the same mileage?

To answer your question the way you worded it, you already can "keep up" with a 5.3 in a drag race. They will not walk away from you, they will likely get the jump on you, but once you get going, you will stay that 4 to 6 lengths back, it will not increase or decrease, so you will be staying with them. This is all assuming you all have the exact same truck, save for the engine difference.

stock manifolds are already pretty good flowing,i say BB tune,373s,build up the trans shift kit, vette servo etc.

under $1000 the only realistic way to keep up with a truck that has 30 more cubes is a 50 hp dry nitrous setup.

there are lots of other parts you can get... but for the budget you're talking about.. i would get a blackbear autocal (forget about jet chip, blackbear is a custom tune specially made for your truck) and at least 3.73 gears.... then i would get a k&n cold air intake, then some headders and a nice exhaust.... but hey! that's just me.... if you really want to leave your friends trucks behind! get the blackbear! re-gearing will help you a lot when launching.. and will improve your city mpg... here's the page where you can get blackber autocal... http://www.blackbearperformance.com/ i think you can contact justin via this forum.. he's the one that makes the custom tunes... and if you get the bb tune.. let me know how it worked for you.. i'm saving up money to get one for my 99 silverado

ohh!! and DON'T let your friends know that you got the blackbear autocal! let them suffer from loosing to a smaller engine :P
