Truck Did Some Work Tonight

My neighbors kid bought this for a steal but needed help picking it up. It doesn't run but he's hoping its minor. The truck did awesome towing it. Hardly new the car was there. But... with that said, I only got 13 mpg towing the car. I had to pull 2 mountains and was still able to maintain 65mpg with little effort. The cars in great shape. Even if he has to get a crate motor he'll still be ahead of the game.

I can certainly understand not wanting payments. I owned my 03 for a few years without payments before getting back into it.

looks liek a good find.. How much $ for it?

He picked up the car for $1400 bucks. It's got a re-manufactured short block, brand new comp cam, and came with a new radiator and compressor too. And they guy threw in another LT1 short block and engine stand.

How did it pull in comparison to your old 6.0L 4 speed combination?

Alot better quite frankly. 95% of the drive, the truck never came went any lower 5th gear.... and that was towing between 65-70mph. I was very impressed.

Sometimes I wish I had that pulling power. I know I had an LT1 Camaro I sold dirt cheap one time for everything that was done to it. There was a reason I did it too. Hoperfully he doesn't have any problems with it, and it turns out to be a good car, because I know mine wasn't.

Thats cool. About time you let that 6.2 flex its muscles...Did you use tow/haul mode? Wow great deal on the car.......I really want another 88 Monte Carlo SS. Miss mine.

Didn't even need to bother with tow/haul. Seriously pulled like it wasn't there till I hit the mountain...And even then was easy.

Is the tranny out or did you remove the driveshaft? That's always the hard part about pulling a RWD car on a dolly.

I hope you pulled the driveshaft or axles, if not, he'll need a new tranny too.

Nope, we looked into that, and everyone on Z28forum and SSforum said it wouldn't be necessary to pull the drive shaft. Being a 6-speed, we just popped it in neutral.
