Help Hooking Up Components

I have the factory bose system in my 06 silverado..

I allready replaced the ext cab door speakers with boston acoustics 4x6 which made a decent difference.. But the fronts have been lacking lately and the pass door speaker has been making a hissing noise. So ive been doing research, and talked to my local audio shop and they recommended JL audio C2-650 6-1/2" components...

They wanted upwards of $250 for them.. :rollin:I found them on ebay for quite a bit less.. Bought them, got them in mail today. They are indeed brand new looking and nice looking to..

Now my question is, being the factory bose system allready has tweeters up on the pillars, it should allready have the crossovers in its own amp to power the tweeters and woofers individually. ? . ?

THat being said, should i just swap old woofer for new woofer and old tweeter for new tweeter? and not used the JL crossover?

I know these JL's would sound so much better with a higher power amp but for now this should do..

Thanx in advacne for the help. I hope to get these put in this weekend.

BTW- i know i am probably going to have to do some modifying to get the jl tweeter in the bose factory spot..

someone must have some insight on this... :banghead:

Im not expert, but i would think that the crossover that comes with it would be better for those speakers. also running through an amp will sound better than off the powe of the stock headunit. I do not have a bose, but that is what Ill be doing very soon.

I wouldnt recommend using the bose amp with the aftermarket speakers (of any kind) for the following reasons:

1) The bose amp has a 2 ohm setup, not 4 ohm

2) The bose amp uses the equalizer from the stock head unit, not its own, sound may not be good even if you use the JL crossover.

3) (Speculation) - The bose amp may be responsible for the hiss that you are hearing. Google it

3) The bose amp doesnt require 12v to turn on, it only requires 4v-6v...may result in louder "pops" when turning on the system if a different HU is considered.

You arent gonna like the final answer but it tends to eliminate the issues/concerns that you are currently having:

Remove the Stock HU, all bose hardware and replace with your own choosing.

Thanx for the reply / help..

I am planning on changing the headunit to a dvd touch screen unit.. But that wont be for a while unfortunately.. unless a good deal roles through i cant pass up.

Until then, Im not sure what to do with my new jl's. Maybe ill gamble and see how they sound. I dont want to hurt them tho.. thanx again.
