I've been reading up a bit on the emissions on my 07 chevy avalanche. I'm getting a p0449 code and am trying to find the part. I went to the dealership but they gave me the wrong part. I'm wondering if anyone has a part number I can take to the dealership to get the correct part. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

had the same code on my 06 Tahoe and the dealership told me as did many diferernt members of this great site, it is probably going to be the vent solinoid. Go to rockauto.com and look in the emissions section for your vehicle and you will probably find the vent solinoid for around 20 bucks. Good luck!

if you have less than 80,000 miles and less than 8 years old, it is covered under FEDERAL WARRANTY.

Is this a new Federal Warranty ???....when I went to the dealer with my CEL on, they said it was out of warranty.....that was about 1 1/2 - 2 years ago....'06 Silverado with 60,000 on the clock

Read the warranty book that came with your truck.

 

3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper (all trucks), 5 year 100,000 mile power train (trucks after 2006(?)), then there is the Federally mandated emissions warranty, that goes to 8 years, 80,000 miles on many emissions related components and sensors. They have a list of what parts are covered under the emissions warranty.

 

The Federal emissions warranty has been around for quite a few years, bu I don't know when it started, I'm assuming somewhere around 1996 when OBD II was standardized.

The evap. solenoid has a TSB and the dealer has to relocate it with

new hoses and the NEW redesigned part.

The dealer usually only carries the NEW relocated evap. solenoid.

 

If yours has not had the TSB done or been relocated that link has the

OLD part number and you can get it for less than $25 bucks at most

auto parts stores and replace it yourself.

 

Mine has already messed up throwing a SES light and code.

I just took it off and cleaned the crud out of the "vent hole"

(thats why they relocated them) and cleared the code.

others will jerk u off with the $100 hr labor charge to check it out excuse

or the old "DUH......I dunno!" routine !

 

Yes.........I should be covered........My dealer said no!

The GM 800 number was also clueless but the person in INDIA had

NO clue what I was talking about...............

 

So I fixed it myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It cost me 100 bucks for the dealer to tell me what was wrong with my Tahoe. They told me it was going to be about 1000$ for them to replace my leaking fuel pump and another 180$ for them to replace the vent solinoid. I did the fuel pump myself for under 400$. Solinoid will be about20$
