How To Make Lemonade? 2011 Sierra Problems

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I have posted here in the past about the problems i have had but was disapointed with all the negative comments. I have A 2011 Sierra nevada. It Is in the shop Again. In the 10 months I have owned this truck it has been in the dealer repair shop 15+ times, resulting in about 20 days + I have been without my truck. There are ongoing issues that the dealer has been unable to resolve. I just Want my truck to be dependable and work. The major issues that are still unresolved are excessive tire wear. At 10000km I noted unusual tire wear and brought it to the attention of the dealer. Now at 20000km I have four bald factory tires with no explanation as to why. Second, there is inconsistent fuel mileage from tank to tank. I drive the same , and can live with normal variance, but 200km per tank is not right, problem first noted at 13000km. Also, the engine misses at idle, and occassionally during highway driving will lose power. I noted this problem at 3000 km. lastly, still unresolved is, occasionally when I start the truck, engine will catch when key turned, then complete shut down, turn oveer again will start. The dealer has been unable to determine cause of any of these issues, or have been unable to reproduce. Saturday I had to take it to the dealer because I lost power steering, and the service traction control stabilitrac error came up on dic. Out of service again. Any Useful comments would be appreciated. Bill

P.S. Repaired issues include. Broken rear shock mount, replace front bumper due to rust, interior defrost not working, alignment going out and causing wheel hop(2 wheel drive), window visor blowing off,

Your mileage of 200km per tank is indeed terrible and something is very wrong. That's like 120 miles per 20 gallons which would be 6 MPG. Does the truck require heavy gas pedal to accelerate normally? If yes, it seems like your fuel to air ratio is way off due to some sensor malfunction and that is causing poor fuel economy.

As stated, I would try to pursue a lemon law route at this point.

Is your front end aligned properly?

Inconsistant fuel milage really isn't a dealer or GM issue. MPG may vary with the blend/grade/type of fuel. Not all gasoline is exactly the same, even if you get it as the same place all the time, it may be different than your previous tank.

Dealer should be able to resolve the idle/miss problem. Sounds like your TPS may be bad or your PCM needs to be replaced under warranty because the one you have is faulty. The starting/stalling problem along with your loss of power steering and service lights may be caused by this also.

Sounds like you have an incompetant dealer with a service department full of guys that don't know what they are doing. Try a different dealer if the one you are using can't do anything. Depending on state laws, you may want to start the Lemon Law paperwork OR dealer should replace your truck.

Good luck............keep posting so we all know what happens and how it works out for you.

Sounds like a bad dealership........ Try a different one (dealership). And if they can't figure it out... It's really sounding like a dud. And GM might need it back, and you need a new one.

update: dealer is changing a faulty sensor in steering column, say it could be responsible for problems, and fault with stabilitrack could cause tire wear. we shall see. They are giving me 4 new tires to replace bald ones.

- I'm getting a varience of 200km from tank to tank of fuel. started after 13000km. before which variance was 20-30 km per tank.

- never ran e-85

- no lemon law here, have to go to binding arbitration if unable to resolve issues. have contacted Gm canada and opened a file.

- There was an alignment done at 13000km, but it did not resulve wear issue.

- The rear shock mounting pin sheared. normal roadway driving....no off road or major potholes etc. (at 3000 km)

Four bald tires, broken shock mount and poor fuel economy. Dude, I know you don't want your thread to turn into a pissing match but seriously, look at what kind of problems you are having here. These all point to one thing, unfortunantly.

Alignments do not go out on there own. How did the rear shock mount break? Have you tried calling GM customer Assistance?

no but they do go out when you consistantly drive on crappy pot hole filled, bumpy grooved roads. the OP didn't mention how good or bad his roads are..

they also go out if you drive at excessive speed over speed bumps, in and out drive-ways, take corners too hard (which would also lead to excessive tire wear).

truth is there are a lot of things that cause alignment to go out, and while GM builds good solid front ends IMO, driving habits and bad roads can contribute to alignment and tire wear issues.

I was thinking the same thing.
