All I run is E85. It didnt require anything special tuning wise.

I have never tried E85. I read that it get less mpg so I only run 93. Just wondering why you are only using it? Thanks

Yea I get less MPG but I basically break even with the cost difference/milage loss.

Which is weird because every time that I've run E85 vs premium I always loose out big money spent, wise. I loose 3-4 mpg on ethanol It would take over a $1.00 difference in price to break even and ethanol is rarely more than .$60 a gallon cheaper than premium here. Not to mention, there is only one pump in my area and 0 up north where I usually travel.

I figured about 75 cents/gallon was needed for me to break even and as of late it has been around that in the Jackson area. Ann Arbor has an even bigger cost advantage but I'm not out there too often and I'm not driving 80 miles round trip for gas. :lol:

At the station by my house that has it, E85 is 3.13 where 93 is or was 3.79. I remember reading somewhere about a guy tunning his 6.2 on E85 and was maintaining his mileage in the mid 16's. (but cant remember who or which forum i read it on)

So if you were to tune specifically for it and pull down mid 16's it would easily be worth it. Everyone that runs it seems to love how their truck perform with it.

Plus comparing it to 87 there isnt much of a cost difference but compaing it to 93 there is a pretty substantial difference.

Just to throw my math out here.......

 

15,000 miles last year driven.

 

Averaged 14 mpg over that mileage on premium.

 

15,000 / 14 = 1,072 gallons of fuel (I rounded up).

 

Premium here averaged $4 a gallon last year.

 

1,072 gallons at $4 a gallon would cost $4,288

 

Averaged 11 mpg on E-85

 

15,000 / 11 = 1,364 gallons of ethanol.

 

Ethanol averaged $3.40 a gallon here last year.

 

1,364 gallons at $3.40 a gallon would cost $4,637.60.

 

$4,637.60 / 1072 = $4.33 a gallon.

 

So, premium, would have to be $4.33 a gallon, with ethanol staying at $3.40 a gallon, for me to break even. I've never seen premium take a significate spike in price without ethanol following it, in my area. Premium is currently $4 a gallon here. Ethanol is currently $3.35.

 

I'll continue to run premium.

Lowest I have paid has been $2.29. I have 4 stations all within about 5 miles here

Has anyone put a programmer on the 6.2? If so which one and how do you like it? Extra HP extra mileage?

I'll be tuning mine with BlackBear... Just breaking it in a bit first. I got em to do a tune for my 07 Vmax and it was quite beastly after.

      I just brought home a 2020 GMC 1500 Denali.  She has 53K miles on her and I want to change out the fluids over the next few weeks.  I see the diff covers don't have drain plugs.  Any suggestions where I can pick up front and rear diff covers with drain plugs?   Thanks,   Bob

      Well, the dealership got the compressor and installed it. Air at the vents seems nice and cold as it should be. The service manager said the repair has a two year warranty and unlimited mileage. Hopefully I don't have to use it. The dealership i went to was one where I bought my 2014 half ton silverado. In 10 years and 168k miles on the truck anything I needed done and two small recalls they were always very good to me. Not a huge dealer either. I think they treat people well because they want you to come back. I have dealt with a different dealer that was too big to care about an individual. Just my two cents.

      Multigate Connector Difficult to Connect Fully

      Hi All, I operate my 2021 3500 SLT most of the time with the tailgate off and in a crate because I have a slide-in camper. However, at least once a year, I take the camper off and put the tailgate back on. Recently I installed the tailgate, but had a hard time getting the connector bail to swing to the fully latched position. The connector seems to fully seat, and everything works, but the bail doesn’t swing to fully latched position.  It swings almost there but stops and I am afraid to push it any harder.    Does anyone have any advice on cleaning or lubrication or anything else I should be doing?  i know how to properly operate the connector. During the time the tailgate and connector are off, i have a double plastic bag over the truck connector secured with rubber bands to keep it clean, but it still had some dust in it this time when I blew it out with compressed air. I didn’t want to spray it with anything other than air without doing some research. Thanks.

      There are a lot of spammer's that do that, quote something and add some commentary to make it seem legit, but modify the quoted text a bunch making sure when posted it's long enough to be "click to expand", and either immediately insert a spam link, or come back after some time and edit it to add the spam link.

      Hello @jaszr2 Do you have a link for the item? I put a replacement bumper on my truck and consequently had to relocate the shutters. I studied on them a while, and figured if you left a couple key blades, you could get most of the airflow with probably no throwing codes.
