Oil Filter Question

5w-30 will serve you well. As stated above Pure One oil fiters are really good quality filters and any major brand oil will serve you well on oil changes up to 7k miles. If you want to go longer, then synthetic is a better choice. Some times Advance Auto runs good oil specials.

of course I run AMSOIL oil and filters and have been since 99.

On a vertical mount filter such as what we have, I always pour about 1/4 quart of new oil in it before installing it; provides a little bit of a prime on startup.

Damn that was easy. I don't see why people take there vehicles in to get their oil changed. Unless they don't have the tools to do it themselves. It only took 30 minutes to do. Thanks for all of the info guys.

I used to when I first bought my truck in Alaska. Oil changes were only ~$30. I could barely get the parts for that but then none of the auto parts stores around didn't take used oil. It was just more economical for the dealer to do it then me.

I use any full synthetic oil that is 5w 10 and dexos approved, I've mostly used penzoil platinum, I also stick to the original stuff ac delco oil filter, for some reason I don't trust the d.i.c., I don't let the oil life go all the way down. I stick to the traditional 3000 miles, my main reason for that is the size of the oil filter, it's pretty SMALL! So I believe 3000 miles is the best way to go

If you are using a "full synthetic oil" and changing it in 3k (unless towing) you are wasting money. The ac delco oil filters are designed by engineers "to work" properly and filter out contaminets (sp). If you are worried about "dirty oil" change it @ 7k.

Got a good deal on AC PF48 filters for $3 each from a Hummer dealer going out of business, so I guess I'll have to keep this truck until I die to use all these filters up.

I purchased my PF48 filters from Walmart for $3.97 ea, far better than the $9 price the dealer wanted.
