what is the speed 4 Hi can be on now on these trucks .

 

 

 

There is no limit as far as I know but if you're in 4WD and doing 60 or 70, you're either driving a tropy truck in the Baja or you're a massive idiot for driving that fast in poor conditions.

 

I am pretty sure there is a limit . Those parts in the front turning those speeds I dont think are meant to turn that fast ...

It really won't matter to me what they have in 2014, since I don't care for being a guinea pig on first year models. In fact, it's hard not to go ahead and buy a new model like mine w/ the NHT before they make that change. Otherwise, I'll be keeping what I have for a long time, and maybe look at the K2 version after it's been around a few years (depending on how it looks). Mine has zero issues, so it's not easy to consider buying anything else (all new vehicles are "pigs in pokes" by my opinion, although Toyota/Honda seem to be more consistent w their cars).

I have read that the 6.2 is getting moved up to the HD trucks and will not be available in the 1500 anymore. See that and a bounch of other "opinions" floating around, who knows.

Bummer on getting rid of the G8, but you gotta do what makes sense.

 

I have a 08 G8GT, cammed/supercharged. I love this car and will have it for a very long time. I am trading in my 2003 Silverado Z71 this weekend on a 2012 Sierra 6.2L crew cab.

LOL.............because we don't want to wait however many years it will take for GM to wake up and join the party. You never know with these people, could be next model, could be years?

 

 

 

Waiting for GM to wake up and join the party? Ford just surpassed GM with the 2011s. Before that, GM had the best V8s on the market. And now they're just down on power, only time will tell if Fords engines will last and be reliable.

 

The money you save will be lost in resale value when the new ones come out.

 

 

I can't say I remember seeing the 800s take a hit when the 900s came out. Fullsize trucks have held their value quite well traditionally, regardless of age (to a point of course).

I don't mine buying the first model year.

I had a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (White) had about 265K on when I traded it in for my current truck.

I shoulda kept the Jeep! Miss it

 

Plus, my current truck is '07 first model year, its been good also...with 140K on it.

Hard to believe this topic is a lost a year & half old.
Still have my truck, while my grandma drives the G8, while she sold her pos Buick! lol

I would love to have the 6.2L. Definitely don't want another payment for awhile, my truck as 10 more!! TG!
Gonna keep my current truck for ahwile, if the engine ever goes, I'll replace it with a 6.0! & beef up the transmission & gears.

Well, stin, I think you made a wise choice! Keep ye truck! Sounds like you got a good one. I wish I'd kept my '96 350 Vortec Silverado! I traded it after having transmission rebuilt, then started smelling coolant so feared the dreaded intake manifold issue on those year trucks, so traded it for my current '02 F150. Not a bad truck, but I just like GM better.

 

I'm wanting the 6.2 also, but I've read they require 93 (or high test) gasoline, not sure if the '14 models will, but - they will ALL have the ridiculous (IMO) whatchamacallit 4 cylinder mess. I'll wait of course, but that's what I'm wanting for now. Next year? Hey, I might be wanting the new V6! Hehehehehee, another reason waiting is good - me wants change!

FWIW from original question: Having both 4wd Silverado 6.2 and an AWD Yukon Denali, they both are great in the snow. I would have to say, having front inner wheel traction (during a turn) with the AWD seems better to me than a 4wd.

 

We have owned 3 awd gm vehicles and never had issues.

it was a bad winter here, and truck was more like a tank going through the snow. i do have steel rims and snows for winter, but the truck was awesome. awd is just as good as 4wd, you just have to learn how to adjust your driving. on the gas mileage part i average 16.3l/100km's on a tank.

on another note, tired of hearing about people complaining about running high test. if u care about your vehicle u run it. if u can't afford to run the high test, don't buy the dam thing. i wonder if corvette or other higher end/performance cars complain about the same thing. it's kind of funny, i usually see the opposite around here. guys in their "ricers" with the exhausts etc. putting the high test in, with the belief it will make them faster

I just run 4wd Auto in my truck in the winter, or mud. You can still crank your wheel without it hopping, and its very very solid. A bit better on gas as well. I usually only put it in 4 High if I'm pulling someone out of a snowbank. But I like being able to run 2WD as well.

 

For me, AWD was not even considered.
