100% illegal

and why would you do that? Do you want your truck taken away or are you just trying to stir the pot on this forum .

Aww man, but I love my loud straight pipe dumped under the bed before the axle! Lol, but this will change soon since im gettin headers and then custom exhaust.

Why would they take it away? He may get tickets for the noise, make get tickets for the missing emission device (assuming the police in his area are qualified to inspect vehicles) and would fail the emissions test, if his area has them. Around here, loud exhaust gets a bylaw ticket for unnecessary noise. The bylaw ticket is not a moving violation.

I am interested in this topic to know what you guys mean by exhaust being broken in.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not, but Ill give an explanation just in case.

Non-chambered mufflers that have a fiberglass matting in them to absorb sound, (all glasspacks, anything Magnaflow, etc.) will change their tone as they "break in". Basically all that is happening is that the fiberglass strands in the mat are beginning to fracture and compact within the case. The tighter the mesh pattern on the fiberglass mat, the less sound it will absorb, therefore letting more sound through the tailpipe.

I get lots of comments (good) about the glasspack exhaust on the 1990. I get good comments on the Magnaflow on my 2006, except for one of my friends says it sounds ricey. So to each his own...

No problem. Im the same way. Ive learned so much more from this site that I ever could have on my own. Unlike some people, I like to be helpful rather than just flame someone for not knowing the answer and just make them feel stupid. Glad I could help.

Exactly!

Great thing is, OP, if you don't like my loud exhaust then I'll just make sure to step on it so I can't hear you complain about it. Loud exhaust does not automatically mean a bad crackle or that it sounds terrible.
