Wondering If I should've Bought A Ford

I hate to even make that comment about buying a Ford but dang. I bought a very nice 2007 NNBS Sierra crew cab Z71 about 4 months ago. The truck just turned 58000 miles and is like brand new inside and out extremely well cared for truck. I bought it certified used and I'm sure glad it came with a 1 year bumper to bumper warranty.

The other day the check engine light came on, no big deal I know this happens and most times just a sensor or something, then I notice the fuel guage is acting weird. I had 3/4 of a tank but sometimes it would read 1/4 sometimes 1/2 and then sometimes back to reading 3/4 again. I took it to the dealer and while it was there I had them check for a rattle in the drivers door. The dealer ended up replacing an o2 sensor which seems to be common on alot of vehicles these days but also ended up replacing the fuel level sensor in the tank and the window regulator in the drivers door. The good news is I got all three things fixed in one shot.

Now a week later I leave the house drive a 1/4 mile while listening to a new CD and it quits playing. I try to eject it and it won't even eject it just says "check CD". I fool around with it for a couple minutes while sitting along side the road and finally said the heck with it. The AM/FM sterao and XM works fine. I pull back out on the road and hear a chime and look down and see the information center is saying "Park Assist Off". I never pushed any buttons or even put the truck in park while I was jacking with the stereo. So I push the info button on the dash and jog it back to the odometer reading. The truck seems like it has a mind of it's own sometimes.

Sorry for the long winded post just kinda venting this morning, I've always been a GM fan but starting to get a little aggravated, thank goodness for the warranty!

May be an electrical issue. Sometimes things have to be worked out. Who know what the previous owners may have done as far as driving and wiring.

I am sorry you had troubles. I bought the same with a few more miles and it has been great. I admit the dash cracked but I take partial blame for parking in 105 degree day with the windows up and no window shade. I thought I had an oil leak turned out that I didn't twist my oil filter tight enough.

Things will work out. If they can't fix something repetitive 3 times over than speak with them about a trade or something.

Try a ford out. My dad switched to ford. Loves them...ford makes a good truck. That new 5.0 goes like a bat outta hell...he just picked up a new 6.7 powerstroke. The last 5 fords he had, he traded them in before they had 35 000 kms on them LOL...but two of them were in and out of shop for warranty crap. You'll get the bug...sounds like something electrical goin on. Take it to a good dealer.

just seems like normal stuff to me man, the truck is 5yrs old, things go wrong. Sounds like they were all taken care of except the cd wont eject, which is very common for any and cd players.

Yep...everyone knows that Fords have never had any problems at all.

not normal stuff at all my truck is 7 years old now and it runs like new. My dads old f250 is 21 years now and all he had to replace is normal things like fuel pumps and one transmission last year and the LCD dont work on the old radio anymore but radio still works and AC but everything works perfect on it and I expect my truck to last as long a his. Trucks are not suppose to break down in 5 years or have problems. My truck runs like the day i bought it new and my dads 3 trucks run like new still . 5 years is nothing on a truck . I know with my little 4.3l engine I should be getting along time out of it alot of cargo Vans have almost a million miles on them .

sorry dude, 02 sensors, window regulators, and fuel level sensors are all regular shit that go wrong with any vehicle.

People who are going to trade vehicles every 3-5 years are not going to take near as good care of it as people like me who has driven the same car for 11 years.

Or, maybe the truck was traded in because it has too many problems. You expect out of thousands of trucks that none are going to have problems?

Hope you get it all worked out.

well maybe my family has been just lucky all family owns a 91 f250 , a 1999 f350 , a 2011 or 2010 dodge 1500 (unproven truck) my 05 silverado 1500 and none of are trucks have had problems. and sensors should be pretty easy to replace if they go bad but 5 years is way to fast for any of that in my experience. Also we have a old bull dosser and tractor and they run fine to and they are older than 25 years. Window regulators I dont know about that my truck is manual windows but the parents 1999 f350 windows work like new still .

Was there anything in the receiver (if it has one)? Was there anything behind the sensors when you pulled along the side of the road that could have blocked them? Mine says this anytime I left the hitch in it. The one thing I hate the most about buying a used vehicule is the possibility of buying someone else's problem. Hopefully you you did not.

To the OP most trucks brands are pretty dam reliable and just great machines. Ford ,Dodge , and GMC all great machines. If you had bad luck with a GM product try switching brands and see if you are more happy . I see you like Harley I know Ford makes a Harley edition truck maybe you would like that.
