Chris, have you looked at the Cooper tires? I have always had great luck with them and they wear like iron, usually 55,000 mile warranty.

Hard to find a UHP or summer tire from a lot of companies in the size i need. Mostly just all seasons

Well I finally completed my Morimoto Retrofit project. What a pain in the butt. I ran into a ton of problems, mostly having to do with the crappy ebay headlights. I also had issues getting them adjusted, but I think I finally got it taken care of. Im loving the light output

Well, my Cooper HT are decent. Squeal like pigs if you push them though, and I wouldnt call them a performace tire by any means. Better than I expected(didnt break lose in a turn when I thought they would), but then again GMT900 SUVs are massive unwieldly beasts with fairly low handling limits.

I think the HT Plus is available but not sure

A little bit of my racing experience on tires here......

When your tires are squealing theough turns at high speed, they are doing exactly what they're supposed to, that's normal. When the tires squeal through high speed turns, they are at their point of maximum traction and right before the point where you get loss of traction.

Be careful in that heavy SUV once they start to squeal. You don't want to get to the point of saturating the tires, that's when traction is lost due to them not being able to hold the weight that your vehicle is putting on the tires and they start to slide (squalling). Would be pretty scary in a heavy SUV.

I've got a set of Bridgestone Dueller Alenzas on mine in 275/55-20. For the past 5 years they've worn damn good given my front end issues (ball joints and hub bearings). Also stick like glue for a 6k lb. pickup! I've pushed this thing around corners that no vehicle this big should be able to take, and it's taken it. I've yet to reach the absolute limit of these tires on any of the roads around here when dry. They also ride nice and are quiet as a mouse. I may buy them again if I can't find anything earth-shattering performance wise.

Around here on 90% of the roads, you'll slide off the road and crash due to loss of traction from bumps before loss of traction of the tires alone.

Front end torn down last night

You know you have a bad lower ball joint when...

Gonna rip out all the steering stuff today, flush the old power steering fluid, and reinstall the majority of the front end today. Waiting on new cv axles and upper ball joints. Should drive like a new truck because everything is getting replaced with MOOG and ACDelco parts

Oh man! Did that separate while you were driving? Seen that happen only a handful of times around here.

So sick of front end work - did both at 2 different times. First the lowers & struts, then the uppers & hub bearings.

I have plently of experience with tires. :D

Not scary if you have autocrossed a 700HP 3100# car with drag shocks.

Nah I'm rebuilding the front end. Got the upper seperated from the knuckle then finished pushing the cv axle out and then the knuckle just fell off lol

Everything steering and suspension up front is gone. Power washed frame and all loose parts. Gonna paint anything that needs to be tomorrow as well as flush the power steering fluid and install all the new stuff

Also got the wheel spacers in. Before:

After:

They are 1.5" wheel spacers. Need them up front bc the wheel offset isn't enough for 13.50's. Not sure how I like them yet...

Makes me wish is gone with remote resi's. Your front frame has better paint than mine too.

I took my pickup to get the tires rebalanced (25k on them now). I'm in Dallas, and the tire guys didn't know how to balance them because there was some mud on the rims :driving:

Frame is gonna get hit with some semi gloss rustoleum while it's torn down as well as the individual parts

Painted front end of frame today as well as pressed in moog ball joints on all 4 arms. Did adjustable ball joints in the UCA's. Also painted all the control arms

Gonna start putting it together tomorrow! Once the suspension is mostly back together, gonna go ahead and replace the tranny with my replacement unit from Performabuilt [emoji3]

Nice - that's the first time I've actually seen a picture of an adjustable one. That gives you some big camber options, looks like.

I'm kicking myself for not going with the silver higher-end Bilstein's when I did my struts a couple years ago. I've got the yellows now - they ride great, but would've been nice to have the best of the best. Maybe next time ... if there's anything left of the truck by then ...
