Washed the truck today to get it ready for the flares and vinyl (on headlights.and under the flares). Also will be finishing up the tinted bed liner on the rockers and front bumper ends.  Eventually I'll do a MOVE front bumper as well but for now...

I'll do another post/write-up at some point once I have a few more things finished up.

Took fatty to the Dodge dealership to get road force balanced, tires rotated, and alignment checked. They actually rotated the tires the way I wanted them to (shops don't always do this because apparently GM's manual says to rotate a dually differently than what most places do?). Even better is I didn't want to pay $99, which was dumb because the tires were going to be off to get balanced anyway, so I told the guy to take that off. I left the printout of how I wanted to have it rotated in the truck because I thought I was going to get it done. I guess the tech decided to rotate evm though it wasn't on the work order. Saves me the time of doing it myself. Plus harbor freight still doesn't have 6 ton jack stands in to replace the ones I gave up for recall. The 12 ton ones are too tall and a pain to use on Fatty so I don't use the 2 sets I have of those. Then my dumbass went and spent $230 at harbor freight anyway lol

Now I need to look at getting a new front hub assembly, it's been whining for a while and now I know it wasn't the tire.

<sigh> Sold my 2008 Silveardo 2500HD LTZ Z71 Duramax.  She's gone.  :( Mechanically in top notch shape.  Body rusting out though from the inside out.  Got her July of last year, put 20,000 miles on her since.  Local Ford dealership which I purchased my first truck from, a 1999 Silverado years ago, ironically gave me the highest offer for the thing so went with that.  Private sale wouldn't have been much better right now.  I'm pleased with what they gave me for her.  Time to start looking for a new used truck.  (2017-2019 most likely Silverado HD Duramax but might explore the 6.0.  We'll see.  In the mean time, I get to drive the beater Lumina a bit more and a bit harder.  We'll see if she can stand up to the extra stress. If not, no big deal.  <sigh>

I'm pondering on moving on from my 2016 half ton as well. Do I put tires on it in the next 4-6 months, replace the wheel bearing going out, deal with the slow leak between the engine/transmission and hope the body holds up to more Minnesota winters or sell it. Maybe get me a nice daily driver car again and find me a real clean older single cab short bed truck I can turn into a "fun truck".

From a cost perspective, you will likely be better off to maintain your current truck.  Creating a list of problems helps justify buying something different.  This is something we all do and is fine as long as we can afford the added expense .  Last week I mentioned to my wife that I'm thinking of new tires for winter.  Yesterday, I mentioned that it looks like the truck will need a battery soon.  Apparently after 45 yrs. she claims to know this "list" strategy and I got a firm lecture from my chief financial advisor and needed co-signer. ?  (I have also mentioned there is a very nice 2020 Diesel at our local dealership and our powertrain warranty expires this month.) )  It looks like I'll be shopping for a new battery now and new tires next winter!

My vote is a car and older truck-toy. Used cars in good condition are cheap and efficient. I went that way. The older I get toy truck has a different meaning. Less wild, more of a cruiser.

The used market for trucks is pretty good right now and from the looks of it the truck is worth 2-3k less than what I paid for it 2 years ago. It's a tempting offer to let it go and get something else.

The not wanting to play around with this newer truck is getting kinda old. Doing mods and just some repairs alone if they were required can cost a pretty penny. Having an older more basic truck that I could do whatever I wanted with sounds more fun.

We'll see what happens. I've been hoping for a hail storm this whole summer but didn't get one and now do I wait for someone to smash into me this winter or maybe clobber a couple deer to total it out lol.

I kind of miss the old incandescent/fluorescent lit garages.  I just like the traditional looks I suppose.

How big is the one with the truck and camaro in?

I’m not sure I’ll look at the house plans. It has a 16ft door but it’s deep enough to fit the truck easily

Today I purchased a 2018 Silverado SLT 2500HD Duramax Z71.  14,000 miles.  Maroon with black interrior.  Got a good deal on it.  This thing is NICE.   Great to have some more modern features and comfort after having driven GMT-900s for the past 11 years.  Don't have to worry about CP4 fuel pump issues as they went to a different system in 2017 and most of the DEF and DPF issues have been worked out that the 2011-2016 LMLs were prone to.  Photos to come.
