Don't do it that way! And don't get bent over by those guys!

A local muffler shop did mine for $60. They fab'd a 3 inch pipe about a foot and half long to go in front of the muffler. This is where the slight bend is and welded it together. The back side of the muffler is welded to the stock exhaust with no bending involved. I maintained the stock look from behind. You can't even see the fab'd pipe till the truck is on a lift. I also had the guys to rotate the muffler so the "GM Performance Parts" is visible when you duck your head down to look at it.

I will post pics as soon as my little girl comes and shows me how to work the camera and upload the photos.

Pic of stock exhaust exit with touring muffler installed,

Pic of the rear of muffler through wheel well,

Pic of the muffler from bottom of truck, notice "GM Performance Parts" is visible.

Pic of added pipe to the front of the muffler, really there is no bend, just angled. The hanger that went in front of the muffler had to be fabercated, but used the stock location and mount to the truck.

Another pic of the front from a different angle,

Hope this helps!

When I did my brothers truck, we did not have to add any pipes. I cut the stock muffler st th welds and installed the GMPP muffler without issue. Strange seeing all you guys having the have something fabricated. Either way, it's well worth the money.

The entire GMPP cat-back for my 08 was $900.00. Wish the muffler alone was available at the time.

My 2012 needed no added pipe. I just cut the factory muffler out with a sawzall and used accuseal clamp to mount mine right in place. lined up perfectly!

I will get pics up as soon as I can of mine installed.

Mine was off by a inch or two due to the inlet & exit openings of the stock muffler. Still glad I made the switch!

im thinking im going to go with the touring. My only question for you guys is.. Would there be a sound and/or performance difference if the full dual pipe system was used versus just installing the muffler to the stock pipe?

I have the sport installed and it's not loud enough for me so if someone local is interested in it I will sell cheap. I am located in Sterling Heights MI

Isn't the 6.2L 3"??? Not sure about the size but the GMPP muffler is able to be "puffed" ton fit a 3" pipe, not sure about 3.5" though.

Had to have my brothers GMPP sport puffed a little to make it fit over the factory pipes due to the wall thickness.

Why would you want to install a 2.5in diameter GMPP muffler in a 3in or bigger exhaust system? You would just be constricting the flow that you are trying to free up by adding the GMPP....

The touring is very quiet. On the highway, my tires are louder than the exhaust. I like it
