Everybody needs a "Dooms day" gun

Since this Colorado incident and recent shooting spree's in Toronto. There is talk again of banning guns and ammunition. Maybe it's just me but what exactly does a gun ban do? It takes the guns out of good peoples hands (Sport recreation, hunting and collectors) So what exactly does that achieve. Tree hungers/bleeding hearts are partially to blame. Light sentences for murderers and illegally obtained weapons. Same groups of people are to blame for us not having a "Castle law/SYG" law up here. Now something has to be done about all the crazies out there but if someone has obtained a permit/licensing the legal way and is an upstanding citizen why do they seem to be the ones everybodies after? Now that would leave the Police and bad guys with guns and we all know police can't be everywhere all the time, leaving the rest of the world to put your hands up to the bad guys and hope for the best...

Gun control has and never will stop violent crime. In fact, murders and such have continued to decline since the liberals assault weapon ban expired in 2004. There is so much disinformation from the left since this tragedy with scum like Bloomberg and some senator from commieformia claiming if the AWB were in place still this would not have happened. Sorry folks, but the AWB only banned the sale of new hi-cap magazines and such, old ones were perfectly legal to own and sell. It's just people who think Americans should surrender to their govt like the Europeans have.

Don't get me wrong the random shooting stuff is sickening and something needs to be done. Guns don't kill people, People kill people. I think any gun violation on the street should be life in prison (No paperwork, loaded in your car, in your waist ban without a carry permit, all of this type of activity. See ya in the big house) I don't want to make a political statement or policy statements. Just want to know what the average Joe thinks.

I think the problem is the justice system. This character will probably be declared mentally insane or some other weak claim and he'll never see any real justice. I think they should reinstate the death penalty in all states and start killing criminals now, not twenty years from now. That way, a prospective bad guy will think twice about his plans. Or we just keep killing bad people, either one is fine.

Ya the 6/10 years sentences and "time served" waiting for trials needs to stop. Death penalty for cases like that would be nice. What good are any of these people to society anyway? If a guy discharges a weapon at a police officer what exactly does he think about your life or mine? If I had a head full of bad wiring, I'd expect to be put away too.

it creates a black market for them where people will still be able to obtain them albeit at a higher cost. Look at how bad Prohibition failed. There is no way you can catch a nut like that who flies under the radar. There is always going to be crazy people who do stupid things like that, even if guns were outlawed he would have just used a bomb or poison gas. I only wish there would have been someone there with CCP to put him down before he hurt anyone

No offense Ryan but it really bugs me when people say that guns kill people. Guns don't kill people its the idiots behind the trigger that do. I have yet to hear of a gun on the shelf going off and killing someone.

LOL Ryan said cars Jeremy....your right though, these people that sell them to shady people for a buck need to be on the receiving of a lead slug too. Common sense seems to be the main problem, how can a person lack common sense....? I guess it falls back to the "head full of bad wiring" I mentioned earlier.

my gun of choice for close quarters is my SIG P220 .45APC. For a long rifle I would choose a M1A(civilian M14)

banning gun sales is really dumb... if guns were for some reason completely outlawed, it would cause the black market/illegal gun sales to go WAY up.. and people would still have just as many guns and still easily be able to get them. for the most part the only people who legally buy guns are people who only use them to protect themselves and their families or go hunting or collect them as a hobby.

You won't find anyone to argue that point here. Gun control hasn't done a thing in America. Even with the last AWB expiring in 2004, violent crimes have continued to drop. Never mind that the "assault weapons" the liberal idiots love to demonize are used in a tiny percentage of crimes. Same goes for the waiting period that was forced on us and that some of the stupid states still have. If someone is set on committing a crime they're not going to go to a gun store to legally buy a firearm, that's just stupid.

      Thanks!  I figured as such; GM and other manufacturers have used standard parts and harnesses across trim levels and such for decades.  I pulled the blank accessory cover off of my commuter van (a 2016 or so Chevy 15-passenger) years ago and found the plug for a USB outlet.  It wasn't connected to anything, though (I tried swapping in an outlet from another van).  I was a GM Tech years ago (late-90s) and was pretty familiar with my 2006.  I might be wrong, but I view newer vehicles (pretty much anything made in the past 20 years) as being a lot more plug and play.  Meaning, more unused wires and plugs unless you have the Mack Daddy of vehicles.

      not all plugs will be used.  gm uses more generic harnesses that support most/all options, and if your truck doesn't have a specfiic option, the plug won't be used (commonly will have a dummy insert in the plug , or it'll be taped up, but some may just be left as is).  But it's sldo possible some p.o. has installed the wrong/cheaper parts that aren't correct for your vehicle...

      First off, I'm not trying to just get easy advice/fixes for the issues I've noticed so far.  I'll be combing through the site via searches and such, and if past experiences are any indication, should find what I need.  For the sake of conversation, though, I figured I'd post the handful of things I've noticed in the 12 hours since buying my 2010 SLE CCSB.     Indicator lights: Airbag and TPMS.  The tire pressures aren't reading for any of the wheels, so I'm pretty certain the sensors were either removed, are damaged, or are otherwise inoperable.  I used to mount and balance tires 25 years ago but am pretty much ignorant when it comes to TPMS.  My 2006 didn't have the sensors and this might be the fourth vehicle I've owned that does.     Radio: Rear speakers aren't working.  I removed the driver's side rear door panel and checked the speaker and wiring.  I also removed the sill and b-pillar covers to check the wiring.  A few minutes of Google Fu showed that this is potentially a head unit issue.    Switches: Power mirrors don't turn left/right.  I ordered replacement driver's door switches that should arrive tomorrow.  The windows and locks work but it was only about $20 for all of them.  The driver's side rear window switch lets the window down but won't put it back up.  I think the passenger rear doesn't work at all.  In the coming days/weeks, I'll break out my multimeter to check all of that.   Unknown wiring harness: There's a box attached to the front driver's side of the engine compartment, right where the second battery shelf is located.  There are three plugs, one of which looks like it fits a standard headlight-style bulb (9007 or similar).  It doesn't look like it's plugged into anything.  I'll do some digging and if I don't see anything elsewhere on the site, post some pictures here.   Unknown plugs on brake booster: There are at least two female plugs on the brake booster that aren't being used.  I think it might be a replacement/aftermarket, so maybe those are used for a different application, as there don't seem to be any unplugged harnesses and no indicator lights are on.   Little squeaks when turning: Sounds almost like a bushing around the bed of the truck.  I'll have to pay close attention as I get more familiar with the truck.   Clunk on acceleration: possibly the infamous drivetrain clunk.  My 2006 had it and I'm just not familiar enough with this truck yet to fully grasp what it is.   Anyway, my apologies for the vague and all over the place post.  This truck is new to me, and it's been four years since I drove my 2006.  With 200k miles, I know I'll need to learn this truck quickly to avoid having any major issues, despite being confident it's got much more life to it.  My 2006 had nearly 320k on it when I parked it (nearly 300k of which I put on the truck), and it was still drivable then, though I suspected the head gasket might have blown.  I'd hoped to have that truck back by now, but it's gone forever, as I detailed in my reintroduction thread.
