The more I look at it the more I think that's just a cover over the dash to hide it. Look at the fitment around the stereo section and the glove box area...

+1 In one of the photo's the driver's right hand goes out to almost block the camera....oh God you can't see this.

As tight as GM has kept the lid on these trucks I can't imagine they'd leave this one so wide open to photography if it were not some sort of ruse. First that glovebox itself looks like something in a mid 90's import compact. I may be totally wrong, but if this is the interior it has taken a step (or two) backward, but it feels like a setup. Even the instrument cluster looks like something from an 90's era Ford (see picture) I think and hope GM has pulled a fast one on the automotive press. If this is indeed real, lots of folks including myself, are going to be left wondering what happened.

Console shifters should be optional and if you want paddle shifters, buy a freaking performance car.

I laugh at all the cars with manual modes these days. Things shift slow as shit and are worthless.

Paddle shifters should only be on cars with real twin disc type transmissions like those used in exotic/super cars, period. I still think that, and awd, are two HUGE things missing from the Corvette.

None of that shit belongs on a truck though. This coming from the owner of a truck that can literally be driven stupid fast, too.

so being able to select 1st gear so you dont have to ride the brakes on a downgrade is a bad thing? the 4-speeds you were able to select d-3-2-1, essentially manually shifting an automatic, which is great. instead of having to move the shifter having paddles would be much easier, quicker, and safer (both hands can stay on the wheel). and sometimes you just want to hold a gear when an auto wouldnt- i really dont see the downside.

I've never been in a situation that I couldn't quickly, and safely, put my truck into manual mode and select the gear that I needed.

Why not just say "because I want it"? There are lots of things in life we do not "need". Part of being a human mammal is the ability to just "want" something, and being able to get it. I am a consumer, I want something, make it please and I will buy it.

I'm OK with that theory, 100%. Matter of fact, if they make a Silverado with bucket seats and a console shifter, I would buy one. I just see absolutely no good reason for paddle shift on a regular auto trans ESPECIALLY, in a truck.

To be completely honest though, I don't have that big of a gripe about my '11's interior other than the shit cloth seat covers but I knew that going in. If the cooled leather seats would've been an option in '11, I'd have them.

Put a button on the back of the steering wheel you can push with your finger, kind of like the radio volume on the Dodges, problem solved. You get to keep the console storage which is most important then the guys who for someone reason shift an auto by them selves can still do it. The only time you should ever have to shift your self is to hold a gear and that will be temporary, no problem pushing a button on a column shift a could times...

Side note, I like dodged knob shifter, even more out of the way. Question though, how do you pick and hold a great with that?

truth be told I bet that is a covered up dash and a decoy. Can't wait to see the final product. Latest I have heard on GMI is the 5.3 will be 350/370, they are really close to those #'s with SAE testing in progress. I sure hope the 4.3 comes to as I would like one of those in the new colorado.

Leave the dual exhaust off, that was popular in the 90's and just gets rusted and torn up/smashed if crossing a steep ditch. I wish they would do the tail pipe like the current colorado, tucked way up high and out of the way. if anywhere else, I would cut it off...

Why have a shifter at all these days. Most transmissions are electronically controlled anyway. Some old ways just refuse to die I guess.

I still like to have something to "say" to my truck.

I am the driver. Not a computer. Even if a GM truck would come with the automatic park pilot (like the one Ford were the car parks automatically) I would never use it.

I do not bother very hard to fix my park assist. Because I don't need it.

I know where the corners are on my truck. And so should every driver with a valid license. I can tell in what gear the trans is just by looking at the speed and the rpm.

Even when the trans is designed to shift at certain points I still want to be able to leave it in 3rd gear. Just because.

All the little critters designed to make driving a car w/o effort are the cause of the carelessness by many drivers.

"My car will warn me if I'm on a collision course...it even hits the brakes..." makes many people think they don't have to pay attention anymore.
