fracken GM and their stupid column shifters.. I wish to gawd they would do away with that crap.

What's wrong with column shifters? Where else is as convenient as the column? Not trying to start an argument just curious as to what's your opinion.

column shifters are fine for vehicles with PRND L, but for vehicles like my Avalanche that has the "auto stick" feature allowing for manual control thru the gearing of the 6 speed, a column shifter with a push button manual shift mode is IMO retarded.

If they are going to put a auto/manual transmission in the vehicle then the proper place IMO for the shifter is on the floor with a "tiptronic" action, not a column with a button.

Was just thinking about this the other day when on a long trip. Had my arm on the center arm rest (actually the folded down seat back for centre seat) and thought the ideal place for a shifter is right where you hand sits when arm is resting on arm rest. Would just feel so right.

After looking at more of the images, at one time someone suggested they were using a ford shaped emblem to throw some off, leading them to think it was actually a Ford. I wonder if it actually really is a ford. Would be the ultimate disguise, and even getting feedback from non-ford drivers as well. Something is just not right in the appearance. Don't know what it is, just something strikes me as being odd.

I doubt it becuase ford makes nice interiors. Even the base F-150 is better than this. I really believe this is the work truck version but even then, its not that nice for 2014.

just noticed the door panel... dosent look very good, the square area around the door handle dosent really flow at all, looks weird

I honestly am not a huge fan of Ford interiors the more I sit in them. They look fantastic at first glance but in the end I feel they take the industrial look too far and ergonomically things just aren't that great. We'll see what production rigs look like. Everyone seems to be acting like GM has let the others take the lead when in all reality Ford only just started making a fully decent truck last year, before that their engines were slow and awful. Now they're powerful but no one can attest to longevity yet. And Dodge is doing better but still isn't there yet. They need a real 6-speed in the 1500s and to go back to leafs. The coils might ride nice but they don't take a load good.

there are quite a few tells that prove it is a GM product.

The squared area over the wheel of the fenders, Fords are round as are Dodge.

The grill is definitely Chevy, the oval is just covering the bowtie.

The column shifter with the tow/haul button - pretty much identical to my 2010

The column shifter rubber boot - pretty much identical to my 2010

The squared column cover and the key/ignition switch - pretty much identical to my 2010

The rearview mirror has OnStar buttons

The HVAC Temp controls are nearly identical to the Caddy CTS controls

The OnStar Antenna on the Roof is kind of a dead give away as well.

I'd also like to point out that it appears to be 3 different vehicles, they appear to be different colors and the mirrors are different on all of them.

One is White

One appears to be dark blue or black

and one has Towing mirrors.

Overall the truck doesn't look much different than the current GMT-900, and I suspect as per typical GM, they will include a whole bunch of new options which some nice hefty pricing, that have come standard on everyone else's vehicle since 2006.

GM you are 5 years behind the game, I have owned 12 GM products and have always been a Chevy guy but frankly I find most of their line-up disappointing..

This has to be some sort of red heron to throw us off....the interior reminds me of a mid 90s GM truck.....

we have a winner. i firmly believe that dash is wrapped in a leather cover. if you look close you can see it.

When I was a kid my Uncle worked as an engineer for Chrysler. He drove a bunch of test mules, and frequently they'd have mocked up interiors. Put together with just about anything they could find that would fit. Parts of other trucks, parts of other cars, etc. He mentioned once that he was in a Dodge Caravan once that had two different Stereos, neither of which could be turned on. They were just trying to figure out the ideal placement for height of the stereo knobs or something.

So my guess, from looking at this, is that it might be prototype toolings, prototype textures, and prototype colors. Wouldn't worry too much yet.

But yeah, that does look awful.

After seeing that interior i am left disappointed. What a fail. I see soo many gmt 900 parts reused. If this is what they are offering, i might have to look at other trucks. I hope i am wrong and this is a hybrid or some joke.

Where? I see maybe the shifter, sunvisor and possibly the inside mirror (though that has some sort of plastic base like the Cruze and other new GMs). Different steering wheel, gauge cluster, center stack and armrest. Towing mirrors too but the design can't be beat which is why GM, Ford, Toyota and Nissan all use similar designs.

The whole steering column and ignition and shifter, looks dated. But I will wait for finished product.

I don't know about so much as damage control as much as calling a spade a spade and telling the truth, you're looking at spy photos from a test mule, if you know anything about this sort of stuff along with the fact that these trucks have been guarded like crazy from the public by GM, that statement has some pretty good weight to it, IMO.

I am hoping for several things here:

1) 4 wheel disc needs to be standard. How is gm gonna let ford and dodge pass them on that?

2) Get rid of steering column shifter. Sorry, but the ive always said the interiors of the ford dodge and tundra were better. Mainly because the console shifters.

3) Needs to be an dedicated cargo light

4) trailer brake controller standard, if not at least hook up the damn power wires for us. So we dont have to hook up 2 wires that are just taped up in the engine bay.

5) I hate the steering wheel, same one as the 2014 impala.

6) Please make dual exhaust available like dodge does. I think it looks awesome.

Everything else looks okay, the gauges look nice. Not sure about the dash though, it will have to grow on me. I did notice the shifter is the exact same one in my 2011 WT

I wouldn't mind 1, 3 and 4 but I hate console shifters, don't mind the Impala wheel I don't think and straight out the back duals are horrible for towing, they just echo off enclosed trailers.

2- disagree. aesthetically maybe (and thats subjective). i like the storage the column shifter brings. its up out of the way, unlike a console shifter. there really isnt any functional reason to have a console shifter over a column shifter. and a proper manumatic should have paddle shifters, so gm's column shift gear selector is a moot point because even a console shifter should have paddles on the steering wheel.

6- so long as it isnt integrated into the rear bumper like the dodges. a body lift on that just wouldnt look right- or if you want to change the exhaust for any reason. and it should be optional across the board, not standard on upper trims.
