Cruise Control quit working

Recommended Posts

Got a 2006 1500 4x4 5.3L Sierra. The cruise control starting shutting off mid 'flight' now its by luck that it will work.... light on dash doesnt come on when trying to set it.

Tried the switch for the brake pedal.... seems to work fine...... where exactly is the cruise control located under the hood? Is it the vertical thing behind the throttle body? How bout vacuum lines?

Thanks in advance!

Do a search for cruise control. One of the problems is the two orange wires in the column area would break. Ive read its an easy check and repair.

Figured it out. All has to do with LED Brake lights. More specifically the 3rd brake light (CHMSL). I replaced the led's back to regular bulbs and the cruise works fine. I still have led's in the two rear park/brake and in the turn signal.... doesn't seen to affect the cruise.

I have been playing with LEDs on a 2003 Vette...and found that all kind of weird and wacky things can happen with LED lights. The DRL/Turn Signal and Markers caused no problem, but LED tail lights caused the DRLs to go OUT and DIC to dim when the brakes were on--same thing fixed problem, I just gave up on LED brake lights.
