I'm looking at getting the stainless steel sill plates for my 2012 silverado. does anyone think they are worth it do they look pretty sharp?

i'm also wondering if people have seen any problems with them scratching or anything like that.

also wondering what they look like its hard to tell by the pictures but are theses more of a shiny chrome or are they more if the dull stainless that matches more of the inside stuff of the trucks or is it suppose to match the crome bumpers that are way more shiny?

thanks everyone

They came stock in my truck. They are more of a dull stainless. I love them compared to the color ones that were in my 08. No scratches here.

There are two different kits. One replaces the black plastic ones, the other is a piece that goes over the painted sill of the door opening on the front doors only. That one is the one that does the protecting. It protects the painted sill, and the wraps over the edge as well. The ones that replace the black plastic ones look nicer than the stock ones. They are not polished, they have a satin finish.

Did not come with them, I bought them. Paid $144 for 17802523 and $123 for 17802605. The 17802523 set is for 4 sill plates, front have GMC on them, rears do not. The other set is for two plates, that go on the rocker sills just beyond the door gasket. These were for the Ext cab model. No idea if the 17802605 is specific to the Ext cab. The 17802523 is specific to Ext cab though.

For putting those on do you just pull up the old black plastic ones and snap in the new ones because it looks like the old ones have clips on the bottom that just snap in

Yep...that's all there is to it. The new ones have the same clips.

I just bought the the Bowtie ones for my Chevy. Very easy to install. Look really good. They are a little cheaper at www.sdparts.com
