engine light on... any ideas?

So in a couple of days I am trading my truck in. So the past 4 days I have taken off all of my mods. This includes swapping the alternator back to the 145 amp, and taking out my K&N FIPK and putting the factory one back in.

Tonight after finishing up I started the truck up and my engine light is on...

The only thing I can think is because I swapped the filter units that the MAF sensor is getting a different read all of a sudden.

Or possibly if i got some dirt on the MAF sensor when removing and reinstalling to the OEM unit.

I wont be able to scan till tomorrow at the auto store to see exactly what the code is. But hopefully I can get it scanned and cleared..

The truck ran absolutely fine. Alternator is charging at 14.5.

Any other ideas??

1st thought would be the MAF sensor

What are you trading in on?

UPDATE!

So as im sitting here tracking over every step in my mind of what i did to my truck to convert back to stock, I suddenly remembered that I did not connect the MAF harness ! :banghead: So i went back out, connected, and the light of course is still on because the code is set.. So i took it for a 30 min drive. And you guessed it, code is still on! :sigh:

So I believe i have 3 options... 1- drive until it recognizes the MAF and goes off by itself, 2- disconnect battery for 20 min and let it fade away hopefully, or 3 go to autostore and let them hook up the scanner and delete code.

So my plan of attack is drive it to work and if its still on , go to auto store and have reset.

Any other ideas or are my thoughts wrong?

The MAF code likely won't clear on its own. Either pull a battery cable or get a store to clear it. But like I said on USA some places won't clear codes anymore.

If you have no luck by Thursday I'll be passing through headed back to MI. I could clear it for ya.

Thats what i'll try tomorrow , pulling the negative batt cable for 25min.

Thanks for the offer MIke! Where abouts are you now? Supposedly there is a big storm headed our way.. up to 16" they are calling for.

I'll let ya know how if it clears .

Thanks!

I'm in NH still and will attempt to leave tomorrow but it looks like it will be a lousy drive. I basically take I90 from just west of Boston across Mass, NY, a corner of PA then Ohio up to Toledo before turning north. Something tells me he drive is going to suck. My goal is to make it to Erie the first day and finish up Friday as I have a few stops to make along the way.

Yea you will be going right thru the crap weather! We got allready at least 6" here. I just came in from snowblowing..

Update on the engine light.. ITS OFF!! I disconnected the battery for 30 min. Reconnected and the light came on for about a min. then went out and is out since!!

NEXT issue! This truck is fighting me now! It does not want me to trade!

Its a winter storm here with at least 7" on ground now. I turned my truck around in street and my back wheels were spinning . My ABS light came on! I hit the Auto 4 wheel button and it engaged no issue and the light went off....

Only thing i can think of is when i went to end of my street to turn around. I did not feel or hear ABS kick in, But then as i was spinnign away the light came on.. So maybe my ABS stuck and threw the light , then when i engaged auto 4 it popped it off????? IDK, picking up truck FRI!!!! cant wait till this one is gone!
