I'm not here to argue this, apple has been good to me. Better than any PC I've owned, all I said was until an apple product lets me down ill stand by them. On my 4th phone, own 2 computers one of which is over 4 years old, still have original iPod as well. Nothing has let me down, not one crash, not one virus. Nothing.

 

More than I could say about any PC I've owned. And I've owned a few, in fact I still own one now. Toshiba, cost me $1300 and it was a piece of shit after 6 months of usage. What if macs were the same price as PC??? Everybody would own a Mac, at least 50/50 I bet.

I believe that most people with a PC would have an 80% better experience if they just came with the stock OS and a GOOD antivirus not McAfee or Norton.

 

What made you mac guys all get the mac pro over the mac air? I'd like to get one of those little guys in the future possibly.

No cd drive and maximum 500 gig I think. Might even be 250 can't remember, I have MacBook Pro with retina display....

 

 

Would this change now that the new Pro doesn't have a disc drive?

Oh it doesn't? I got mine in July. That wasn't available when I bought mine. All the MacBooks still had disc drives...

The MacBook pro 13" has one. The desktop lacks a disc drive

Airs and anything Retina lack an optical drive but standard USB optical drives will work as will a drive on another networked Mac. Plug a disc in one Mac, install on another.

 

I have a 15" MBPr and a 13" Air and I can't tell you that I've ever needed an optical drive even once.

 

 

It burns when I Tapatalk.

Each of my Apple products have been awesome and once you figure out all the little quirks are very smooth and easy to use. The only downfall is that Apple constantly releases a new version of what you just bought only a couple months later and it makes your "new" computer look ghetto. I'll keep using Apple till they really piss me off. I heard they are making everything "sealed" now or are headed that direction so the only place it can be upgraded or serviced is at the Apple store or certified facility and will only use Apple internals.

That's the price the consumer pays for wanting thinner and smaller tech. It's not impossible to work on any single Apple device, you just have to have some mechanical aptitude and not be scared to remove those pentalobe screws. I've replaced plenty of HD's, keyboards, etc. on macs over the years and while they do require care and concentration, they are not less repairable than anything else and parts for them can be found all over. As for "Apple internals," aside from HD's, most laptops use proprietary logic boards, I/O boards, etc. It's nothing Apple-centric.

when i was in design classes for college i used strictly mac and loved them, i wanted a macbook but couldnt afford it so i have a toshiba ive grown up pc but i love macs because they rarely freeze arent raped with viruses and are designed very well the display is amazing.

Linux rubs better than OSX does but for class I need MS Word. I used to dual boot when I had Win 7. I haven't installed Linux yet with Win 8

I know that current and older Apple computers were easy to work on because I had to replace a HD on one. I was just saying I heard that is possibly the future for Apple computers and if that happens I couldn't bring myself to buying one. But considering my MBP is only 2 years old i've got at least another 6 years before I "need" to buy a new computer and even then just some simple upgrades will bring my computer up to current "standards".

What is it you are having problems with? They work with Exchange flawlessly and moving files is no different. :dunno:

I got it now. The SDM for office wouldn't download office. It would hang up. The first time at 89% then at 46% then 64% twice. Took 5 days and moving the computer code to the router so I could hard wire but its downloaded and installed. Now I'm installing the updates

      I'm the original poster of this thread; I'm 85,000 miles now with no transmission issues after they did the fluid change without filter at 45,000.  I plan on a fluid change AND filter in another 5,000 miles and agree with you on staying to witness what happens if possible.  Ideally I would have done the filter at 45,000 too, but my original dealer was incompetent.  I've since moved on and get service done by another more reputable dealer, so I'm hopeful they follow the correct procedure at 90,000.

      Sure, but they do have some affordable options like the Trax, Trailblazer, Envista, and Encore. Some of these have a cheaper base price than the Civic, though the fuel economy isn’t as high. The main problem is that people WANT the highest trim with all the goodies and finance for like 7 years. That’s how ppl “afford” the more expensive vehicles.

      Holy s**t - not much of a parts thrower you say? You BLASTED that thing with the parts cannon!  You'd have been probably $1,000 ahead if you had just brought it to a competent shop rather than shotgunning a bunch of parts it clearly didn't need.   Just FYI - oil additives are really, REALLY good at ONE thing ... and that's emptying your wallet. They're ALL useless gimmicks.   If that has the L94 or L99, then #7 is an AFM cylinder. I'd suspect a failed lifter in that case.   If you leaned on wiring, sensors, and/or connectors while changing the oil, you'll have to check all that to be sure pins didn't get pulled out, connectors broken, etc.. Old wire loom that was barely adequate when new is certainly brittle by year 19 - make sure wires aren't chaffed and shorting out somewhere where you might have leaned. or supported yourself on it.   If your a mechanic, why didn't you just find out what you were missing and troubleshoot from there??  TIMED spark, fuel PSI / injector pulse, air, compression.  Can't make ANY money going the parts cannon route.

      LOL! Are you joking?? That wax SUCKS! 100% gimmick made to "look" good.    After just TWO winters I had severe surface rusting in patches over 90% of the frame. Only reason it looks great in the pics is because I SATURATED the frame every single fall with used motor oil for 14 of the 16 years I owned it. Otherwise it would've been sent to the crusher 8 years earlier with the speed it was rusting prior!    I sold that POS 3 years ago. Was a gigantic headache the second it rolled off the showroom floor. Brakes pulsated on the TEST DRIVE. Door trim fell off the 1st week! Interior squeaked and rattled, and the drivetrain clunked after 2k miles. 4x4 switch failed shortly after. Front end - ball joints, struts, hub bearings - all failed between 38k-50k. Engine started burning oil at 50k. Rear and and transmission failed before 100k. Nothing but problems, and frustration with the piss-poor engineering designed to make you give up. Well, it worked! Nothing on that truck was easy to remove ... except the wheels. They haven't figured out how to screw that up yet. Give 'em time ...   I won't make that mistake again.       Different monitors do their test only under conditions specific to that monitor.  you MIGHT find the drive cycle conditions for the monitor that isn't ready on this site: https://lemon-manuals.la/   If it's not there, then it should be on alldata.com for your truck, but it requires a paid subscription.   And you need to know which specific monitor isn't ready.
