Dodge Truck 36MPG commerical

Anyone else see that commercial?

 

Somehow I find it hard to believe that a 5000lb brick could hit 36MPG. Heck, my 08SD is rated for 26MPG, and I hit it once, doing 100kph, with a tailwind!

 

Just wondering how they'd pull that off for the EPA readings. Installed gerbils in each wheel hub to get some assisted power.

 

My Acura CL could get 36MPG, but with a radically difference shape and weight profile.

 

(I believe it was 36 Canadian MPG = 30 US MPG), still stupid high for a tank.

Was this a corporate Ram/Chrysler commercial or one from a local dealership? I doubt even this new diesel will pull 30 MPG (US) myself.

I believe the jeep with the same diesel "only" pulls down 28. I would bet the pickup would be just a bit less.

Anyone ever notice they advertise the 25 mpg pretty hard, yet the trucks shown in the same commercials are not the HFE reg-cab/short bed 2 wd that may get that fuel mileage?

I believe the 25 mpg claim is due to the 3.6 Pentastar V6. Before I traded my 2011 Dodge Challenger for my Sierra, it would consistantly get 30 to 32 mpg on the freeway, plenty of power too. Good thing too because I was constantly returning it to the dealer for warranty issues.

Because not many want that kind of truck.

 

And not a chance in hell that truck can do 30 mpg US. The test was obviously some lab controlled type conditions none of us ever see.

On Canadian web site for dodge trucks, the claim is "up to 36 mpg". Surprised they get away with advertising mileage in imperial measurements, when we went metric, government had a time limit on how long you could still advertise in non-metric numbers. Dodge truck website only shows imperial,

Not really. Dishonest implies that they are doing this maliciously Testing is not done in real world, it is done in laboratory as mandated by EPA.. EPA will take results supplied by manufacturers and test approx 15% or randomly selected vehicles to verify.results. Not being dishonest, but also not testing in real world environment. When i drive my moms cruze, i can get over the sticker epa mpg, BUT, i have to drive extremely slow a push the pedal down a hair everywhere i go. which to me dosent make sense because noone drives like that.

You not have old men wearing hats driving in your region? Is your mother's Cruze one of the ones with the 1.4 turbo engine? What you are describing is exactly why they have gone that route.

The 36mpg is imperial and its only for the v6 pentastar coupled with (i think) new 8 speed. Its the EPA test results so everyone should know by now that you never get what they say.
