Mobile 1 Oil claiming some extreme numbers...

So I went to go pick up an oil change from advance auto the other day and noticed that the Mobile 1 extended performance full synthetic was on sale with a Mobile 1 oil filter for 36, so I picked that up as well as an extra quart (one of those 5 qt. deals). I looked at the bottle and it claims that it is guaranteed for 15k miles. Now, I don't know if I trust this "guarantee". I know Mobile 1 is suppose to be really good, but 15k without an oil change sounds extreme.

I doubt I'll go that long without an oil change. But, does anyone have any experience with this oil and can you really go that long on it?

Just curious of yalls thoughts...

I have been using that oil for years. I ran it all winter in my car and between oil change changes with the extended performance went 14,000 miles. Sent a sample to Blackstone and the results were good, no issues and the oil was not broken down.

I don't make it a habit to go that long, usually go by the OLM. That oil does perform as advertised according to my Blackstone results.

It tells you to go online to look it up. I just wanted some real world experience with it. I do tow about 5000lbs. possibly twice a week if not more so I probably won't go that long without an oil change

On M1 my usual is 5-6 months and 10-12k. And that is going by the OLM. Had it changed yesterday. The oil has been in there since the 6.0 was put in December 1st

Its not the breakdown (of the oil and/or the additives) that freaks me out (I will ALWAYS change my oil before then), it is the crap that builds up in the oil. When I worked on industrial stuff, I swore by micron or even submicron filtration. As you know the filters in our vehicles are nowhere near that. Of course at over 1000 bar things get nasty quick if your oil isn't clean, never mind if the oil starts breaking down...

Sooo 15k....uhm, no. Not without better filtration. Sorry.

No oil filter out there for our trucks is designed for 10,000+ miles. Oil? As long as your oil analysis results say it is ok, do at your own risk. There are good oil filters out there like the NAPA Platnum just to name one. I would not have an issue with 5,000-8000 miles on one of these as they were designed for that.

I didn't start using synthetic until I replaced my motor a little over a year ago. And even then, I replaced it with a used motor with 100k

Im probably gonna get jumped for saying this but - I have friends that do drift car racing Im talking big time and their sponsor is M1. A bigshot with M1 told them that within the Syn line oils, there all the same, just labeled differently because of marketing as everyone else does. So I shared my info. Believe it or not.

I believe that, to a certain point…

Different syn oils have different add packages, I have read that some folks believe that m1 has gone down in quality, that's not the case, they are still top dogs when it comes to synthetic oil it's just that the rest of the oil manufactures have caught up to m1 and can be easily bought at stores like walmart (as can m1).
