db3812 Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 Honestly I thought it was ugly. Compared to the 2013's and back to 07. It looked ugly. But I'm sure there will be better options and upgrades to it to make it look nicer. But my first impression was its not that pretty, even in black
CorvetteOJ Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 There are none at any dealers around Montgomery, Alabama yet. I have an "APB" out first the first sighting of a new Silverado on any Chevy lot in the area. None yet! I am very anxious to see, feel touch and otherwise examine one up close and personal. Although I am only interested in the "High Country," I am anxious to see the new model up close. The High Country won't be availale until the 4th quarter, so I will have to wait a while until I can get the one I want. I am in the minority of Silverado owners, in that I am into "bling." Personally, I don't even like to drive mine in the rain, much less use it for a truck. Therefore, I believe the High Country was designed with guys like me in mind. I am currently driving a 2011 LT Extended Cab, with approx $8000 in mods and accessories, a lot of it is "bling." Before any one goes off on me for being open and honest, remember, it does take all types of personalities to make the "Chevy Truck World" go around. As I stated, I know I am in the minority, but wanted to share my thoughts anyway. A few years back I owned a H3 Hummer with over $25K of mods and accessories, most of it bling. I was on the Hummer Forum daily and was a huge minority there for sure, so I am used to it. I did give a serious look at the Ram Larimie Longhorn...it's a lot of quality truck for the money, and a primary motivator for GM to come up with the High Country, but just could not deal with the thought of not owning a Chevy Truck! So I will wait for my High Country in the fall. By the way, I guess you guys have noticed, this is the only GM truck forum that even discusses the new 2014 models. I am on three other truck forums and none of them have yet mentioned the new models.

Instead we got a slight refresh that most people can't tell the updated model from the old model going down the road. I have to look close at the front end of the ones I pass myself to tell the difference. The excitement died when they came out looking the almost same as the old truck. You have to look beyond the sheet metal to find the updated truck. The end result was only fan boys waiting for the refresh are still excited about the updated truck. And that is why the rebates have already started, to generate floor traffic to see this updated truck. How ground breaking can one expect it to be? A pickup is a pickup. You look at a 09-current F150 and it looks nearly the same as the 04-08. The Ram a little less so but still if someone doesn't know trucks they're not that different than the Rams as far back as 2006. And I'd also point out that the essentially new Ram and the refreshed F150 also have rebates, so it's not like they're in any kind of struggle to sell them. Passed two car haulers full of them today and if someone who is into trucks can't tell them from a 900-series they need new glasses.
Daryl LBZ Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I personally wouldn't mind if they followed Porche's lead and made minor changes to the exterior styling while focusing on continually improving every other aspect of it.

Thanks man, I'll probably be down toward the end of next week. I'm more interested in the new High Country, but might consider a loaded Denali, if it can meet or exceed the High Country with its "bells and whistles." Tell Patrick Grier, OJ said Hi.
