i was told that my truck will not be going back to stock anytime soon. From what my research told me, this kit was the least cutting between BDS and Zone which are the same company.

Was hoping your answer was no. Would have been willing to pay a premium over zone to not have to hack the truck up.... But if they're all the same then I'd probably stick to zone/bds for the warranty. Just out of curiosity what made you choose CST over zone or BDS? Haven't picked up a lift kit yet so it's nice to hear multiple points of view

i was going to go with the BDS kit at first. I looked at that kit for months. I really hated how you have to grind down the differential cover to make stuff fit. Looked around, found this CST kit. This kit seemed like it had less cutting/hacking a 2 year old truck up. I also like that this kit keeps the track width the same. I hate the look with the tires sticking out past the fenders with the BDS kit. The only reason I’d get the BDS kit over this kit would be for the extra protection/warranty. I’ve only driven around about 75 miles with the CST kit on. So far so good. I’d say it still feels like stock but even better with the exception of maybe a tad bit more stiffness in steering. If you have any more questions let me know. Would love to help anyone else out with any info they need to make their decision on a lift kit.

please be more specific as to what you want pics wise and I’ll hook you up! I’d give it at least 1,000 miles until I gave an honest review. But that might be awhile. Bought this truck July 3 2015 and have around 26,000 miles to this date. Only drive from home to work, and from home to school. So it might take a couple months for me to put 1,000 miles on it after this install.[emoji4]

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here who has been creeping for a period of time. I just get a new 17 Denali ultimate and I am wanting to do a lift and tires. I'm looking at a 5" rough country or a 4.5 Zone. I really like the OEM 22" wheels and would like to keep them. I'm looking at a 285/55/22 Nitto G2. As most people know the factory wheels are a 32" and these would be 34+, but the width would be the same. Zone says there wouldn't be any fitment issues with this tire. Now my worry is that I wont be able to program the truck to these tires. I did a search here and didn't really come up with much about speedometer recalibration. The "calculator" that found on another post says that at 70mph now would be almost 75 with the 34" tire. I'm wondering what everyone who has lifted and increased tire size has done? I would like my speedo and mpg's to read right. Also, what about upgrading the brakes? I understand that I'm not going to a 40" tire or anything but is that something that GMC can come back on when/if there is a warranty issue? Thanks for the insight.

you have magnaride which won’t work with Zone, and I don’t think it’ll work with RCX either. BDS however WILL work with magnaride.

you don’t have magnaride.

 

As for the calibration, I don’t think dealers are doing that anymore.

Back when i owned a Ford, as long as you had rims/tires within the sizes of dealer available sizes, they would recalibrate the speedo so that you wouldnt loose much on MPG and get you closer if not exactly at the right speeds..

You can do a speedo calibration, either with a tuner or a tool that is designed specifically for speedometer reprogramming. Something that you will need to do though, or try to sweet talk the place doing your lift. I haven't corrected mine yet, but I used a speedometer on my phone in the beginning. After driving a week or so I just became familiar to the actual speed.

I saw a harness on SoCal Supertrucks I think that was an intercept style cable that plugg d into the back of your speedo that would correct speed without having to tune. Not sure on the brand or even if it is for the K2 style trucks.

Nope, mine has not thrown any codes, and I am running a 6" lift with 35's. I am only waiting to re-calibrate mine when I tune it.

Thanks for the info WildChevy. The Rough Country site shows their 5" is good with the magnaride. Zone's doesn't say either way, ill have to call sometime. I looked at the BDS site and they only show a 6" lift for the magnaride. I have a garage door that is going to make going with a 6" and 35" tires a little too close for comfort. One of the shops that I am pricing at has now made me nervous about whether my local GMC dealer will do the warranty work on it with a lift. I didn't even price it there because I am close enough to Laura GMC that I just went there (+every time I have priced anything at this dealership they are always quite a bit higher). I guess I could always make the 2 hr drive to Laura if I needed to but really don't want to. When I asked the shop about my speedo, he talked like there was a company (cant remember off the top of my head) that had a couple tunes and also reprogrammed the speedo for tire size. Of course for an additional 325 bones.

So, still shopping for good deal on wheels, but was wanting to ask, only because i cant find anything i like or that meets all the specs for the lift.. Zone 6.5"

I havent measured yet, but will or can this weekend.. 

Couldnt i add a small spacer, to be determined after measuring OEM wheels, to my 20" Polished Aluminum rims so that i only need to upgrade the tires or even run them for a while before rushing into everything.. 

 

Im ready to get the lift, just need to schedule. Looking online at tirerack, discounttire, 4wheelparts and other sites.. there are plenty of rims out there, but the ones im finding at right size, right bolt pattern, but wrong backspacing.. Zone states 5.75" for 20's and 5" for 17's everything i find shows back spacing around 4 to 4.75

 

If i order the rims online, i want to make sure i get the right thing.. 

These are the ones i have now.. im ok with these if they can be used.. specs are 20x9 i think the paperwork shows.. 

i havent removed one to find the backspacing and offset yet.. but if a thin spacer would work, id be all over this and in line to get the lift ASAP.

 

Any one know the true specs on these rims?
