Fogs: PS24W, H16, 9009, & 5202 are all the same size bulbs... so you can buy LEDs listed under any of those sizes and they'll fit in your fog housings.

V-LEDs makes true white, high quality stuff. "4500K - 5000K" are the closest colors to white. "6000K" start to have a bluish hue.

You can also modify a 9005 bulb to fit. the 9006 and 9005 are virtually the same except the 9005 has a two small "rails" in the plug. Where that 9006 has one "rail". Also the 9006 has a painted tip whereas the 9005 does not. And you would also have to trim a bit off the "puzzle piece" (see pics) to make it fit in the 9012 slot.

In my 2002, the the low beam was a 9006 bulb, and the high was a 9005. The 9005 is definitly brighter because the lack of painted tip.

Here is some info i found about these bulbs: http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Upgrade/More_light.htm

And here are some pics:

I would think going with an ultrabright GE Nighthawk bulb (9005) and modifying the "rails" and "puzzle piece" would be the best and brightest and whitest for a standard halogen bulb.

Would it be possible to mod a 9011 to fit in the Sierra for more light output? I am still vastly underwhelmed by the stock HIRs and dont want to mess with going HID. I believe they are 65W vs 55W, but is that really a big deal? So far I have yet to find an easy and proven solution to upgrading the Sierra stock lighting. That is dissapointing because these are so much dimmer than the Silverstar 9005s I had in my last vehicle.

You have 3 things to check/test/verify:

1) The fit in stock housing - the 9011 should work as its dimensions are identical to the 9012, except the tab at the 12 o'clock position. It's pretty short and could cause an issue.

2) The bulb's socket - the 9011 has little plastic ribs to prevent a 9012-male connector from accidentally being plugged into it. You'd have to trim/cut them out.

3) Heat - this is the real unknown. How much hotter will the 65 watt run versus the 55 watt..? Can the housings tolerate the increase? I won't comment or even guess because I don't have any experience with 65 watt bulbs. If you really want the 9011 upgrade, you'll just have to install them and repeatedly check housing temps.

Does anyone know what type of led bulb I need for the 2014 silverado dome light. They seem to be kind of weird.

You'll have to call the dealer for that one, since they're designed to last for the "life" of the vehicle.

One Phillips 9011 ordered from Amazon! Hopefully I can get it installed next week to provide some comparison.

Has anyone tried to change out the brake lights to LEDs yet? My upper driver side running light is already out (Brake light function still works fine). Looks to me like the wire just broke free. But still at only 1780 miles, the lights should not be going out already. Debating on trying to change to an LED or if I just want to get a dealer to give me another light for it.

Very rare failure but statistically it has to happen to someone.. too bad it's a forum member.

LTZ2014 was in the process.. not sure if he installed yet. He mentions it in the 921 LED topic... check pages 4 & 5

    • Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do.    I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road.    Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?
    • Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.
    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
