I ordered some full LED replacement tail lights from Eagle. Should be here on Tuesday and will likely install on Wednesday. And by center lights, do you mean the cargo lamps or the 3rd brake light?

ohh... you went that route.... I almost took the plunge on them too but I hate the matrix of LED panels. I like a little designs, not so "2D" looking if you know what I mean.

The whole point of LED is to improve the driver behind you up to 30% faster reacting to you braking.

That is why I chose to replace bulbs to LED instead of the entire thing, but I hope you like them!

Center light, I meant the center backup light lol, part of the the tail light you are about to replace entirely. I have a canopy on with LED light on top, so I could care less of the original one lol

Here is my canopy :)

Oh yes I did replace the reverse lights. I changed both the reverse bulb and the cargo lights with LEDs. 50W LEDs to be exact! Check out my build thread. I talk a bit about them and have some pictures showing how bright they are! And yea I get what you mean. I'm usually not much of a fan of the matrix of LEDs either, but now that I decided to put in an LED light bar, I figure that changing to the full LED replacement housing will help give the tail end a bit more uniformity. I also changed the 3rd brake light to an LED tonight. I have another one on the way that should be a bit brighter. The brake lights and front turn signals are the currently the only bulbs on my truck that are not LED (aside from the headlights, but until someone comes out with an LED bulb that can compete with 55W HIDs, I'm gonna keep HIDs in my headlights :) )

Does anyone know if a 7443 bulb would work for the rear bulbs? The ONLY place I could find the 7444ll "Toshiba" bulb is at the dealer. Thanks

Does anyone know if the light inside center console if the bulb can be changed? If so whats the size

It's just like all the other lights inside of the cab. They are some odd LED that GM put in without the intensions of anyone ever needing to change it because since it's an LED, it should outlive the life of the vehicle. Being able to survive for up to 100,000 hours. You'd have to get the part from a dealer.

Check out my thread if you are just looking to add a bit more light in the console. I have a cheap but effective way by adding a small LED light pod from Xkglow.com. The pod is small but very bright. Adds a lot of light inside of the console.

tried to replace all 4 front parking / turn signal lights in my '14 Silverado with 7443 (as called out in the first post of this sticky thread) and they do not fit. They are very similar design and push in but do not lock in place, sucks pulling it all apart for nothing. The eBay seller is saying Sylvania shows the replacement to be a 3157...can anybody confirm before I go through this fiasco again?

Check the stock bulbs and the Owners manual. They should both state the exact size. Sorry, don't have access to my manual right now since its in the truck.

I have installed LEDs of 7443 in my sierra with the error resistors in parallel with the bulbs for signal line. No issues in size and they fit ok in socket. Backup was 921, no error resistors needed.

Good luck!

Anyone here done a full compete LED upgrade on all the bulbs in their '14 to include upgrading the Projector headlamp bulbs to LEDs as well as all other exterior and interior lights, i.e. turn signals, fogs, rear taillights, etc? If yes, what did you spend?

I am wanting to do it but ran away from the $2200 quote I got a few days ago (which included $1000 in labor). I felt that was way too much (maybe I'm wrong, if so tell me)....

The quote I got was for LED replacement bulbs for the following;

2-projector headlamp bulbs with integrated fans

2-front fog light LED bulbs

2-front Turn signal LED bulbs

2-rear twilight LED bulbs

2-rear stop/brake light LEDs

2-rear backup LEDs

2-small rear license plate LEDs

1- interior rear dome light LED

2-small sting LED light strips (front underneath dash and under D/P front seats for rear floor illumination)

4-small LEDs mounted and wired in on side steps (2 per each side) to illuminate ground when opening doors.

The quote excluded map lights and side mirror lights which are already LED from the factory.

I can do the work myself but prefer to have it done by a professional shop (LEDs only) and don't want HIDs with relays, ballasts, and diodes, etc. Was told LEDs were the way to go. All that stated, I can easily live with what I have before dropping $2k on a bunch of bulbs.

$1000 in labor is just simply absurd. The LEDs for everything except headlights, highs and fogs, should not be more than $100. I know, I've done all of them except my break lights and running tail lights. I'm currently looking into those and will likely not spend more than $50 for quality bulbs and capacitors

I have changed out all NON LED lighting to LEDs other than the front turn signals so far (and the headlights but those are HIDs. There's still no LED bulb that is really designed for use in a projector housing that can compete with the output of an HID. Yes I know VLEDs just made their new LMZ bulb at 4,000 lumens but it still only says

"'ok' for use in projectors"

I am planning to change out my front turn signals this Christmas to a VLEDs V3 Triton bulb. Should be the brightest turn singal anyone has :)

I used some cheapy LEDs from Ebay for my rear license plate lights so they aren't overpoweringly bright. Just enough to get by, that's how I like them to be in that setting. My reverse and cargo lamps are 50W LEDs and I wish VLEDs would make their V3 triton fit in those applications (921) because I feel like they would be better bulbs, but oh well. And my brake lights I change to full LEDS replacement housings that look like the stock light housings. They are the Anzo's but I got them from Eagle Eye. (From what I've heard they are the same company but different prices!)

All lights on the interior should already be LED. I haven't noticed any non LED lights in there. I added footwell lighting and light strips on either side of the cab for when opening the doors.

As for the headlights, I'm almost certain that you will still need to run a wire harness to get an LEDS headlight to work just like you would need to do an HID system.

If you would personally prefer LEDS headlights, then go for it! Hell, I would prefer them, but they haven't made any that are specifically designed for a projector housing yet, so I'm still holding off on getting some. Maybe one day

Hope this helps!

Ps, I think I have spent a grand total of somewhere around $800 on all my bulbs (including the $250 for LEDS tail light housings, $60 for HIDs, and $350 for rigid industries LED off road pods for my fog lights)

With projector lamps the LED's out there are not sufficient lumens for headlights. The technology is there but cost is $$$. Stick to HID for them or go the economy route and put xenons (non HID) like I did. HID's are the best route, I just wanted to wait till better choices on aftermarket lights for the 2015 HD are out there with the angel eyes.

Not as bright as the 55 watt HID, but more than stock and about the same as the 35watt HID. They are still all the trouble of HID, but with less heat. Main difference will be clearing the covers with the fans on the back and life of them since they will only have the air in the headlight to keep cool and that will make long trips at night cut down on the life some. Cost is lower too. I might try to put a set into my high beams as I need to match more 55 watt 6000K HID low beams now.

I assume that procedure will work for Silverados as well? Have $108 worth of H11 and 9005 Sylvania zXe I'm dreading to install.

How do you like these bulbs? Is it worth while? Do you have the replacement numbers on these blubs? I am thinking of getting them. Thanks.

You can order XD5 Xenons off of Ebay- They are the only Xenons other than Silverstar that I found thaat work and are 1/3 the cost. I tried about 4 different brands and found them to be the most effective. I have them in my 2500 and they are brighter than OEM halogens but not as bright as HID. But they are simply plug and play no extra wiring or drilling holes in the caps for the headlights. High and Low beams were under 30 total.

    • My 2015 1500 LTZ Silverado suddenly won't go into 4 x 4 low. It will go into 4 x 4 high.
    • Yep, just a quick reference point.    My main point being I’d do a thousand other things before I’d pay 10k for a transmission.    Speaking in ignorance cause I don’t look at these trucks, what is it worth? 20k?
    • I think users are going to want to pick their monitored parameters, which parameters they want to see first.    It should probably start with baseline at a minimum and adjust to learned, but be able to overlay baseline for comparison.   A simple severity level would be able to determine what type of alerting is appropriate or user selectable.    Why not use the OBD port though?   I think a phone connection would be a good idea, push notifications type deal.   Number 1 issue is having data is useless if you don’t know what the data should be under normal conditions.
    • I thought I would use your thread and add to it as I just did my first longer drive with my truck in the last couple of days. I drove from the Grande Prairie area of Alberta down to Edmonton and most of where I drove in the city was the ring road so fairly free flowing but a bit of stop and go as well in the city. Stayed the night and returned home and not too many stops along the way each way but every restart and certainly every cold start sets it back for fuel mileage. Why I say that is I see some people will cherry pick a fuel mileage leg after the vehicle had been warmed up driveline wise before hand and its a forgiving ( easy rolling drive leg for example ) and call that their fuel mileage which can give a false perception of reality. I was not heavily loaded at all but never the less the flip bak cover, rubber bed mat, various tools etc and extra jerry cans of fuel all way up to a few hundred pounds of dead weight so its not an empty truck. The cold inflation tire pressures are set more near the freezing point so once they are warmed up driving I was showing 45 front and over 40 rear and realize high inflation pressures would help a little in fuel mileage but certainly not the ride on our crap sections of highway. The weather was good so was not raining as that can really drag mileage down, in fact I had a bit of a tail wind on average driving home. Most people on here would never have driven on that freeway to visualize it but its got a fair bit of rolling type of landscape with numerous river valleys. For the most part I had it on cruise set to 62 although kicking it off if I caught it in time before it started down shifting and self braking going down the grades. Most of the more substantial grades its shifting into 7th I believe as 8th just doesn't have it. Total distance round trip was 643 miles and my overall average and I did refuel three times in all, figured out to 17.65 miles per US gallon. My best fuel mileage section refuel within all of this figured out to 18.46 and these are all hand calculated figures. I find if anything that the trucks computer can be over optimistic, sometimes its pretty close but other times its stretching it. On paper persay in theory the truck would have just about made it on fumes for that whole drive without refueling once.    Which made me think of the topic thread of the wonder if these trucks could do 20 mpg and that is a good question, certainly would have to be on an easy going flat highway, no head wind, the right temperature, not packing around a bunch of dead weight and puttering along even slower than I was I would suspect and going steady and not stopping to smell the flowers or take a piss !. It probably is possible but not without effort to attain that with the wind resistance and weight of these trucks. Of course on my drive most people are passing me if they have the power as per loaded highway tractors, never mind a lot of speedy vehicles but the speed limit is 68 and most are at or well over that.
    • Monday looks like a good day for the dealer to test an ac issue. Hopefully it all turns out good.
