Bigger Tires - Which Ones?

I have a 2010 Sierra Denali with stock 20" wheels and stock 275/55/20 tires. The tires are almost worn out, and I want either new tires to put on the stock 20s or get a new set of wheels/tires.

Either way, I want to have the wheels (stock or differnt ones) to be 20's with a beefy tire.

I have seen some pics with nice black wheels with nice big tires and it looks nice, but I want to keep the road noise to a minimum, and keep the same fuel milage im getting now. (with in reason)

I know bigger tires cause road noise and decrease fuel milage but I wouldnt want any big big mud grapplers.

My questions are as follows:

-If I keep the same size wheel and tire, but have a tire that has a bit more tread/beefy look, would this decreasw fuel consumption?

-Tires I like are nitto terra grappler, goodyear forterra or anything along these lines

-Just want a tire that looks more beefier and not so street lke tire.

Any help for me would be much appreicated. I know more on sports cars not trucks! Thanks in advance.

Unless you level or cut, you're stuck with the factory size, or something close to it. So getting an aggressive AT will help your look but I don't think it will provide what you're after. I would level and run a 275/60 in a Toyo AT 2 or the like...if I were you.

Why would I need a leveling kit?

I want to keep the same size tires just have them a bit beefier that's all..

Thx for us help btw!

Because you specifically used terms like "beefier tire" and "bigger tire" in your post.

just get the same exact size tire but get an AT tire.. or if you want really beefy get an MT but they will have road noise and wont help MPG

Okay, would a AT Tire cause decrease in MPG?

there might be a few AT's that give worse MPG like maybe a BFG AT.. but it really just depends on how aggressive the tread pattern is.. anyway the MPG loss would be so small it wouldnt affect me from getting a cool tire

I have a set of 275/60R20 BFG Rugged Terrain for sale if those would strike your fancy. They would be just a bit taller than your stockers. Came off my Dad's F-150 and they have less than 5k miles on them.

I'd throw some 275/55/20 Cooper Zeon LTZ's or Toyo Open Country AT2's on there and be done with it. Same size as stock, looks much more aggressive, but won't hurt MPG much at all. Just my two cents.
