Need suggestions shocks 2008 z71

Need shocks all the way around 2008 z71 4x4 crew cab stock height 5.3.

Not looking for a harsh ride but not too soft either.

I purchased the heavy duty Bilstiens, and replacement springs (HD rear) for my 04 Tahoe, firmed up the ride tremendously, the rear was raised 1/8 of an inch.

Ok narrowed it down to these 3. Bilstein 5100 Series shocks,KYB Excel-G gas shocks and Monroe OESpectrum shocks.

I got the Bilstein 5100s and love them.

Have them on the highest perch and truck is level.

Did anyone with the Bilstein 5100 notice a stiffer ride from the factory shocks?

Yes they are stiffer. I think it also depends on which level you set the spring clip at, the higher you lift it in the front the stiffer they probably are.

They get a little softer after they break in a bit. It's not a harsh ride and really does improve handling.

Much better than factory in my opinion.

He is correct. I had the bilstein 5100 on my last Sierra and it made it a little stiffer which alot of guys like. But with this truck I wanted the stock like ride for road trips and for smooth everyday driving. So that is why I got the Monroe Reflex shocks. They ride really good, almost better than the stock ones.

Wondering did you replace to whole strut or just in inner shock for the front?

I just replaced the rear shocks so far. With how much the ride change with the just the rear the front will make it ride much better.
