Made a little trip up to KY yesterday about 500 miles overall. Running the E85 fuel now for a couple of tanks. It appears that it is not going to be as bad as I thought on the highway mileage. 2014 GMC Sierra CC SB SLT Z71 4x4 5.3 3.42 20" wheels. I will continue to buy the E85 I really like the feel of the increased HP and Torque it really messed up my first tank of E85 mpg my normally conservative driving was transformed into jack rabbit starts and tire barking. Now back to normal and mileage is just about right where the 10% ethanol 87 octane was at. Note I am tracking on the Fuelly site and it looks like the DIC is pretty accurate over the longer mileage ranges. I do not think the 25 and 50 ranges are far enough to be a true average but they are very good training guides for how to drive to get good overall fuel mileage if you pay attention.

I have to ask again, this is E85? and no one is towing you downhill?

My dlc shows a max of 35.1 mpg on the 25 mile average which is useless if you ask me. I do get considerably better MPG than what is reported here though. I hope you guys get it lined out and get the same.

There are a handful of user on here that are having poor fuel mileage issues and I was referring to them in the terms of them getting the issue fixed or I hope they get their issue "lined out", fixed, taken care of, or addressed. Maybe its a hick thing! we tend to make up our own words, an dats y sum fokes can't understand usn's when we tockn.

I was thinking the same thing so i left my trip on for a while just to see. Pic attached

 

I brought the truck to GMC and they wouldn't look at it. They said bring it back after you get 5000 miles on it..

 

So I have to get 15mpg for a half a year before they look at it????

 

I also complained about my heater. My Dodge got hot heat in 2 minutes. This GMC takes more than 7 miles to get heat that is warm. I drive 7 miles in the morning, that's how I know. They told me to let it warm up in the morning then,, The remote allows 2 ten minute cycles.. So I said in this day and age you need to let a truck warm up for 20 minutes to get heat. How come my dodge got heat in 2 minutes. Is that another GMC design flaw? He said.. They are different trucks. LOL.. no shit one has modern engineering and a GMC threw the engineers out the window.

That's odd on the heater, mine is roasting you out by the time I get about 2-3 miles from the house. I don't generally have mine over 70°.

I just installed the Volant Cold Air system in my completely stock truck. Before the best milage I could get was 14.5 to 15.5. I've had it on for 400+ miles and now get 20 to 22!!!!!!!! My driving consists of a good mix of highway and city with temps being pretty cold here in Buffalo now. I'd say it will pay for itself in no time.

Dang it man are you yanking our chain here? Lets have some details. What truck (CC etc) What engine size What gears What tire size.. HOW MUCH? how hard is it to install? Do you work for Volant or have an interest in that company?

That's odd on the heater, mine is roasting you out by the time I get about 2-3 miles from the house. I don't generally have mine over 70°.

I had a 1979 ford f150 , that had bad heat, /the thermostat was stuck open. The water in the whole engine had to warm up instead of being bypassed to get the heat. Could be a reason for bad gas mileage too. I have to bight my tongue every time I go in to GMC service. They wouldn't change mu oil either. We have a maintenance program and can't change the oil useless it 25% or less...

Ha!! No don't work for Volant. I have a AT Crew 5.3. 11000 miles on it now. Install takes literally 20 minutes. I bought it from a member on here that sold his truck. I was very unhappy with my milage after reading what other members were getting on here so I decided to make a change. It was featured in this month's Truckin along with a flow master exhaust. I just ordered a Magnaflow cat back with hopes of even better results. No bull, I couldn't believe my eyes when I watched the mileage climb on the dash.

No you dont

If they are refusing you service take it back 3 times or for the same complaint. Then call BBB Nd file lemon law.
