ive heard that from quite a few people. i don't get why mine will do it. another guy i talked to at work has a Black A/T w/6.2 and he said his will go into v4 at high speeds also.

side note: i really wish i coul have a v4 override of some sort, so i could force it into v4 when i want

Mine will go into V4 at 80 mph on a flat road in cruise.

Here's my mileage for the year. Calculated at every fillup. No cherry picking 5 mile down hill coasting.

With the exception of the initial tank of 87 and two tanks of 87 when I had to fillup with out corn juice nearby, every tank has been E85.

At the dealer where I bought my truck, I test drove both my truck and my truck's twin with the 3:42 just for comparison and I can say that to me, from 0-70, if there was any difference at all, it was so slight that I only thought I might have noticed something, but since I couldn't see any real difference and only rarely pull a trailer, I went with the 3:08 for the better MPGs - and yes, it pulls great after - and before 65 IMO.

The performance of these trucks is really exceptional IMO.

I test drove a 3.42 and wasn't really impressed when compared to my Denali...the 3.73 behaves much better. The loaner 3.08 seemed to pull better than my 3.73 above 70. Probably in my head.

In the cold weather (below -15 celcius) does anyone notice a dramatic drop in MPG?

In Louisiana we are only down to the 30-40s during the day and I have noticed a drastic drop. Can usually average around 18 mpg per tank of i take interstate most of the tank but lately I have been getting 12-14 per tank.

Yes, mine drops when the temps get under 35 or so and it drops quick. LIke from 18ish to 15. Has done this ever since GM did the catching on fire recall. From what I understand to solve the problem they richened the mixture to keep the exhaust cooler. Evidently running really lean was the main cause of the fires as the exhaust manifolds would get so hot while idling plastic that was near by would melt and then catch on fire when it finally dripped on the exhaust.

Yes -15 Fahrenheit or colder I get around 11-13 mpg. The wind was blowing terribly also. About 30-45 mph so wind was also a problem.

I have had my RCSB 5.3 since June and have (figuring roughly) filled the tank 6 times for a total of 2300 miles and I'm averaging 16mpg and only have to drive 1 mile to work with no red lights. The truck really never gets warmed up good before I get to work. I will really start keeping my eye on it on the next fill up with the Range AFM disabler with some interstate driving and BTW the traffic will roll at 80MPH and up.

I have a reg cab sb with 3.42s and 5.3 and its getting 17.3 mpg. Feel like I should be getting more. Driving is 75mph on hgwy and I do about 70 percent of driving in city

I bet it's peppy with the 3.42's. Since I don't do much hwy running I have considered 3.73's in mine.

Yeah its not the fastest but I came from an 09 manual gt and I still feel like this is a bit quicker. Really want to go to 3.73s or 4.10s but want to find a setup that isn't whiny/noisy. Y'all know of any?
