2014 Double Cab Production

It seems like RAM Trucks was ahead of the game by putting rear doors on their so called double cabs a while ago. How do people with double door cabs like it over the extended cabs with the door post in the way? Is it harder to get items in and out? is there anything you miss with the extended cab instead of a double door configuration?

Wow reviving a dead thread aye!

I've had both configurations of "extended cab" trucks. A 2002 Silverado with the suicide doors on the back. And a 2011 F150 with suicide doors.

It took some getting used to to the rear facing doors on the new GM double cabs. My initial reaction when going to open the rear door was to jump out of the front and grab the inside handle. But it wasnt there! After I got used to it, I can say I like it better. easier to open the doors in parking spots and in the garage as well.

Plus the fact that it makes the cab more structurally sound, aint a bad deal.

I've had a 2004 ext cab with suicide doors on both sides, and now have a 2014 double cab. I much prefer the 4-door double cab. You can get things in and out of the back seat area without having to open the front doors. Same thing with passengers. Sounds petty, but it is less hassle than opening two doors to get to the back. And I agree with fondupot...a more structually sound cab is always a win!

I had extended cab F-150's and Silverado's, I like the double cab lay out better, to me it is easier to get stuff in and out of the back seat of the truck
