Coolant consumption on 2011 Yukon

I'm experiencing a small but noticeable loss of coolant on my 2011 GMC Yukon, 32k miles. The reservoir was down about an inch after the first 18 mos. and I've noticed the level has dropped after bringing to full about 2 mos. ago. I haven't yet contacted the dealer to see what level of coolant loss is withing normal operating range from GM.

Anyone else seeing this? I'll hit the warranty limit within the next couple of months. Everything else on this truck has been great over the past 2 years.

Absolutely no coolant loss is acceptable. I've got 110,000 on my Suburban and have experienced no loss of coolant. It could be much worse than just a loose clamp. Check your oil to make sure your coolant isn't getting past a bad gasket.

Rad shop can also check if the head gasket is leaking fluid. They do a test on the antifreeze with chemical to see if it changes blue , which tells them head gasket is leaking into the antifreeze,or visa versa. Cheap check up, they only take out a sample to test......

Do you smell coolant?

If not, it is probably burning it and that can't be good. As stated above, no amount coolant loss is normal.

I would get it on record with the dealer ASAP.

My '00 had something similar. Turned out that the lower rad hose clamp cracked in 2. When the engine got hot, it would leak a bit. You should never have any coolant/tranny/power steering/brake fluid losses. Those are all closed systems that should never change.
