Hey guys. Ive been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new gmc sierra slt crew cab. It has been unloaded from the train in Baltimore MD for 8 days awaiting transport. The dealer is only 1.5 hours from Baltimore. Its killing me that they cant tell me when the transport will arrive. I have $1900 in incentives that will expire 9/30 so it better be here by then. Is there anything I can do to get it on the road. Why would they want a sold order just sitting there? Sorry for venting.

It was gmc customer service that couldn't tell me an estimated delivery date or when the transport was coming. If they don't have access who would. The incentives say you must take delivery by 9/30.

Yeah I went through the delivery thing with my Camaro back in 2010. I know they know but I think its more of not letting people know the date as if it changes they are not letting them down. I think the delivery of vehicles can be a fluid process, its not like an every WED thing.

As far as incentives, I ran into this with last truck, and they would have honered the deal if it came in late. But might be different now.

I had a similar situation. I bought the truck before it had arrived at the dealer. They had the invoice in hand but no truck yet. It took almost 3 weeks for it to arrive after I made the deal. All they could tell me is that it was on a train from IL to NY. Then it sat at an auto distributor in NY for a while before it got delivered to the dealer.

I still think its funny that Amazon tells me where my $4 book is down to the second but nobody had a clue where a $45,000 truck was once it left.

I hope it works out for you.

The dealer can go pick it up from the train yard but its a pain in the butt for them. They may be waiting until that dealership has a full load on the 18 wheeler before sending it.

hokiez,

I understand that you are excited for the arrival of your vehicle. I could double check the status for you. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

The dealership can invoice you the truck and sell it so you can get the incentives. As long as a vin is issued they can do the paperwork

I've got a similar thing going with my order; I need to "take delivery" by 10/31 in order to take advantage of my GM Card bonus incentives. I only just placed the order last Friday, so the 6-8 week estimate means I may or may not actually have the truck by Halloween. My dealer, however, has told me he could write the truck up as "sold and delivered" the second they get the VIN, which will happen two weeks prior to the actual delivery. In fact, multiple dealers presented this option prior to my order being placed.

Soooo, even if the build and shipping process is running on the late end of that 6-8 week range, they should have the VIN within 6 weeks, at the very latest.

I bet your right. I've had the vin for a while now and I'm sure they have the invoice. Its pretty annoying that the truck has been sitting 1.5 hours away for 9 days as of tomorrow though.

Hopefully it's just a shortage of car haulers to get your truck to the dealer, and not that damn Union Pacific RR having a hard time pulling your truck outta the auto rack.

The VIN is created well before the truck is shipped. Some dealers are idiots. Back when the 2010 camaro debuted there was a huge ordering frenzy, dont ask me how but I had access to GMs ordering system and tracked my car, the VIN is create I beleive during production, which I think also creates a window sticker. Now things could have changed since then.

But then again do I want to sign my name without getting eyes on the truck? Then you start accruing interest and making payments on something you do not own. But maybe you could work a deal with the dealership to come up with an out.
