2014 Chrome grill had no Z71 emblem

I changed my stock Z71 grill out for the chrome grill, there was no option for the Z71 emblem. Dealer told me the one off my stock grill was not removable.

I took a look at yesterday and it was removable. It came off easy, and I had to drill two pilot holes in the new grill, some new 3m tape, silicone in the newly drill holes (to secure it better once it dried) and viola.

What ya think?

Not surprising that the dealer wouldn't know. I've heard these new trucks are a huge educational challenge for dealer service employees. Some dealerships think the new 4.3L is a carry over of the old 4.3L, so I'd give them a pass on this.

GM does not communicate with the dealers and/or mechanics?

They don't have courses or training on the new trucks?

I can't speak for GM but at Hyundai we had new model training classes but for various reasons not all of is went to every one of the available classes. Made for some frustrating times.

Thanks to all- I was wanting to share in case anyone hated the stock Z71 grill as much as I do. Actually glad the dealer said it wasn't removable, I'm sure they would have charged me a half hour labor if they knew how to do it.

Looks nice. I agree the factory Z grill not great. That grill may have won me back from GMC. Ridiculous you can get a Z71 with AC seats yet not an AT GMC with cooled seats. Duh GM.

I think it came out pretty nice. The next thing I'm going to do is remove the ghetto Z71 stickers off the bed. I will then affix one Z71 emblem right below the rear center brake light centered on the plastic above the sliding rear window. I found the emblem on E-bay it's an OEM emblem PN 10362940 paid $39.00 for it.

The chrome grill was changed out as part of deal. I'm not sure what the cost was. Wished I had more details for you.

To each his own, I for one don't like it. I have not seen the ones you are talking about for the last gen Silvy. I'll look around and see if I can find them.

Considering it's the "upgraded" truck package, you'd figure it would have the nicer looking grille?!?! (or at least have a chrome option???).
