I just installed my RX cc so far happy with it I do feel the vibration on the gas pedal usually low rpms nothing major Ill add foam insulator to the bracket later I hear a small hissing nothing major I just know it workings and it did come with the valve that most claim it didn't come with.

May I ask why yours is white? Is it plastic?

Mother of god BG induction cleanings in my area range from 110 to 150.00 for my wifes 2013 Sonata DI motor.

 

I cannot locate a catch can for her car. I called the dealer and they are like why are you putting a catch can on a DI motor.

I used a UPR catch can on my Optima turbo 2.0. I think the 2.4 is pretty similar in setup. Check this video out.

Yeah it was like $140 for my wife's Hyundai Accent. I can't imagine what it will run on the Silverado. But the guy at RX said they advise against these services because the carbon particles that get pushed through the cylinders can get trapped between the ring seals and score the cylinder walls. So I'm not sure what to do. I'm almost thinking not to do it at all on my truck unless it starts having issues.

he told me the same, I am thinking that if your doing this after 40-50 plus K miles that the possibility exists. But I would like to think that after say 15K and under that it wouldn't be too terrible. I put a can on at 8k miles and hope to delay the build up. My wife has 28K now and I need to get hers cleaned before installing the can

That logic kind of makes sense since BG will warranty your engine as long as you do their service according to their maintenance plan which is like every 15,000 miles. I'm at 13,500 now so it's getting close to decision time here...

I got my cc a few days ago. Hopefully installing it today. Sounds simple enough from what you guys are saying. What all have you guys been having to remove to get to the ports? I have a 2014 5.3. Looks like its a pretty tight space along the drivers side of the engine where the port is. Wiring harness and hose tied pretty tight along there. That back port is where my knife is pointing correct? Did you guys need to disconnect other stuff to get to it or remove all the plastic pieces covering everything?

Just got around to installing my can. Here is where I mounted it. I used one of the radiator mounting bolts. I like this spot better than the brake booster because it's closer to the front and will be easier to empty. I ran out of the supplied hose, so for temporary purposes I am using fuel hose one of the runs. I will swap it out with trans oil similar to hosing that was supplied with the can.

 

 

 

 

 

Thanks for the post Fodupot! I had looked around the engine bay for a better location to totally eliminate my vibration in the pedals and never even considered that location. Moved mine last night in fact.

Drained the can last night with right at 1K miles since the last and got just a tad under 5oz of crap out.

Just press that grey retainer clip on the fitting and pull back on it and follow the routing of the hose and remove from the PCV port on the front of the engine under the Throttle body.You might have to move the injector harness a bit but not much.

I'm putting a afraid jr on next week. Will I have an issues with the hoses on my catch can. The can is already installed

Did you buy the clean side filter with the can? if not then no issues. I did the clean side with mine and had to go to the Hardware store for a 1/2 pipe thread to 3/8 hose barb fitting for the clean side filter hose.

    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.       
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.  
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
