My Chevy Silverado 2014, replacement of my Avalanche.

I removed the 50 inch LED bar due to the wind noise. Am thinking of installing a truckbed bar to mount it.

Am very happy with the flares, it makes the truck more agressive.

If you are talking about the the whistling noise that the bars make, you can get some of the door edge liner (the black or chrome stuff from pep boys or auto zone) and it should help to silence the whistling caused by the wind passing over the cooling fins on the back of the bar.

Thanks Mike,

I read the posts regarding this, however here in the middle east with the soaring temperatures we have, I am not convinced this is a permanent solution. Everything that uses sticky tape comes off one day or the other.

I was thinking that companies who design these bars would do wind tests on their products, specialy the high end branded once.

I would think that they do perform wind tests. But there is only so much you can do before you have to say "this may have to be a necessary evil". I personally would still try the door lining. It's pretty cheap. I think it's like $10-15 for a big roll of the stuff. What's the worst that could happen? You waste 30 minutes to an hour putting the stuff on, it comes off a few days later and you'll move on. Best case scenario the stuff holds on well and it reduces or even gets rid of the whistling noise completely and you're now a happy camper and get your light bar mounted above the windshield

But let us know if you go with the bed mount. I'd be interested in seeing that.

Here's my 2015 SLT White Diamond Tricoat with a Zone 2" Level Kit, Bilstein 5100 Height Adjustable Shocks (Stock Setting), & Toyo Open Country AT2 275/60R/20. I'm getting my spray in liner put in on Friday, and already have the tonneau cover ready to go after the liner. Also did the TRS HID conversion the first week I had the truck.

Carl did you ever try the bilstein shocks on the highest setting to see what amount of lift you would get?

No. I had read that people were experiencing a rough ride with them set on the highest setting and others weren't satisfied they could only get 1.85" of lift out of it. My goal was to level the front end or bring up enough that it didn't look like a stink bug. I tow a 27' Tri-Toon boat so it has enough tongue weight that I wanted some rake, but not much. I search the internet for the height settings on the Bilsteins and could not find them until I got my set with the instructions. They are as follows: Stock Height, .75, 1.26, and 1.85 on average. Originally my plan was to put the 2" kit in and set the shock on the first setting to achieve .75 rise and that would have theoretically leveled my truck across the board, but I was worried that anytime I tow I'd be pointing up in the front. It turned out that I'm only about 1/2" different between front and rear, so I'm glad I didn't go up on the shock.

The ride difference between the Bilstein and the Rancho shocks is night and day. The truck is still firm but it's not buckboard ride anymore.

I had read the same about the Bilsteins. Also seen some of the older model 5100s on a 2015 and set to 2+. Sure the dampening isn't tuned to the truck but it looked great and probably still road great.

I'm pretty satisfied with my oem ranchos. Rides better than my 2WD SLE 2004 sierra ever did. Though part of me wants Bilsteins. I likely just end up with a rough country 2.5" level and call it a day. Maybe some new UCAs as well. They come out with a height adjustable shock or coilover that will give me 2.5 in the front from Bilstein or Better and I'm all over it.

Wow what a bunch of trucks! Always liked the new design but at $40k and up was way out of my reach. Decided to fix up my 2013 with new exhaust and tint. Then dealers drop prices down to my level offering 2014 LT double cabs All Star Editions at such a good price I couldn't resist.

Thanks I'm happy with it and so far no problems. Plans for Magnaflow exhaust and Airaid Jr kit. The black truck I had is pictured in gallery somewhere

Excellent looking truck Joel! Given thought several times to that 3.5" rough country kit. Though buddy of my brothers running his older 2011 GMC with that kit plus trail grapplers was getting horrid gas mileage.

How is yours doing?

I think my truck is on the low end of the spectrum when it comes to the 14s. I'm getting 12-15 in town stock and 18-20 highway at best. It's more like 13 city, 17 highway.
