Certainly is possible. Any way you can tell if they are TPMS just by looking at the valve stem? I know it actually sits inside the rim just looking for best case scenario
I'm not sure if you can tell without actually removing the tire. Maybe take it to a dealer and have them check it.

dealer can check, they have a tool that will even show the serial number of the tpms, I saw a video where they were using it to prove ownership when recovering stolen wheels.

Ending up getting a hold of the guy that sold me them... He removed them, problem solved. Looks like I'll have to pick some up.

Well, that sucks but it does explain things. On the bright side at least your TPMS re-learn tool is not broken.

Hey everyone, I have a 2015 2500 hd gasser and the EL-50448 TPMS reset tool for $17 bucks on eBay worked like a charm. Took me all of 30 seconds. Sometimes you win, woohoo!! Autelshop is the seller on eBay.

I have been getting the best deals on tires from America's Tire store and they include free lifetime wheel balancing (important with heavy truck tires) and free tire rotation. About 25% of the time the guy remembers to redo the pressure sensors so I have to check when I first get into the truck that are is correct. If not I get the fellow to correct the settings and he uses the electronic device to do this.

I have done this myself when I realized the problem only after getting home and although letting the air out is simple enough it drops the tire pressure by more than 5 PSI per tire and so I need to get out the electric compressor and add air to each tire. My truck's tires take 80 PSI and most gas stations' compressors are not up to the task so I have my own Viair 400P compressor. Easiest to have the tire store do the rotation and rebalancing every 5,000 miles.

I'm still having problems with a relearn tool for the TSPM on a 2014 Silverado I don't want to go to a dealer the tool they recommend is close to a $1000.00 I do almost all the work on my truck and I know someone out there has mastered the way of relearning the location of the tires at a lower cost please can you help me out or maybe GM want's to rethink what they are doing so us monkey wrench guys can work on our own trucks because they are a part of our family ?

Did you buy the TPMS tool? If so you begin with driver tire, second passenger front then passenger rear and last driver rear

Did you actually buy a re-learn tool listed above?

Most of the posts in this thread are written by people who’ve bought a tool from Amazon or EBay who’ve had success.

There’s also a video showing the procedure on relearning the sensor positions in case you’re having a problem with the tool.

Kinda seems like you didn’t bother reading the old posts and would just like everything spoon fed to you.

Go to a dealer and politely ask them if they can relearn the TPMSS after you had the tires rotated.  I did, and they did it for free, Took all of 30 seconds.

On a side note, I bought a cheap tpms tool on amazon and have yet to use it.  I need to rotate my tires here soon, so it might happen today.  Lol.

Shell out the $13 here:

You need to put your DIC into relearn mode.  The Owners Manual tells you how to do this.  I use this tool very often on 3 different GM vehicles without any problems.  The whole process to relearn all 4 tires takes about 30 seconds ...

Without the tool, this Relearn seems a bit of a pain      :loser:.... considering that the TPMS valves themselves are pricy.

One would think at this price they could learn the damn pressure in the tire themselves after a few miles.

most all shops will have the relearn tool no need to go to the dealer.

    • This is NOT impact damage nor neglect. There were previous class action lawsuits because of such paint preparation st GM manufacturing plant. Not just the Cherry Red Color. This paint is applied in three processes to obtain the desired color.  The manufacturer will cover for 36 months or 36k miles only. That rust is actually corrosion because of the paint process failure. Corrosion is covered for 100,100 miles or a certain months. However their corrosion doesn't include this type. Go figure. Clearly manufacturer knew from previous paint issues. This started 3 weeks ago out of the blue.
    • Is it time to put a piece of tape over the CEL?
    • consider doing electrical testing?  I would guess some power or ground wire/connection has a problem.   alldata.com has wiring diagrams, connector pinouts and diagnostic procedures you can use to find where the problem is.
    • can you tell if the reader is actually trying to get codes, and the pcm is reporting none, or is your reader just silently failing because it's not communicating with the pcm?
    • Any joy with this truck seems to be short-lived.   The CEL for P0172 ("bank 1" too rich) is now "intermittent".   I'm not sure where to check, or re-check, and my energy to keep chasing problems with junk is wearing thin. The P0172 seems to set as I'm coming to a stop, completely off the throttle, when fully warm. At least, that's what it's done the 3? times it's set.   Everything appears normal on the scanner EXCEPT long term fuel trim. There's only one bank on this vehicle because it's an OBD 1.5 with only one upstream O2 sensor. At idle, it's around -16.4% and will dip to -18% occasionally at idle or off-throttle. LTFT approaches 0 when throttle is held at 2500rpm. Short term appears normal, much closer to zero all the time. The LTFT tells me the engine is running rich at idle but compensating at higher load. But, why?   The EVAP purge valve doesn't appear to be leaking/sucking fuel vapor continuously. Is it sticking just as I come to a stop and the engine is choking on fuel vapor and sets the P0172? But that doesn't explain the persistently negative LTFT. Disconnecting the purge valve doesn't seem to make any difference.   I suppose that leaves another dang issue with the fuel injector. A leaking fuel pressure regulator, a new leak in the spider, or a leaking fuel injector/poppet valve I didn't see, or a small crack in one of the spider legs.   The vacuum line leading to the fuel pressure regulator doesn't have raw fuel in it. It doesn't even smell like fuel when it's pulled off, not until you suck air through it, then you can tell it leads to a fuel component. I'd consider that normal? Nothing is signaling this is a FPR issue from the outside, at least.   The oil smells like fuel but it's not building volume. I've noticed most oil in most engines smells like fuel to some degree so it's hard to say if the smell is an issue or not. Or if the engine just still smells like fuel because the crankcase was full of it a few hundred miles ago. But it's been changed twice since that original issue of the leaking fuel line dumping fuel into the intake.   Patience is running very thin. Every win seems to be accompanied by two steps backwards, or another issue that leads to removing at least the top half of the intake manifold. Enough! LOL
