I will probably never drive the truck over 98, but I am confused is the speed limiter on a 14 truck 98mph or 135mph. I agree with other posts there are certain places and conditions where you can drive at a higher rate of speed.

We have several 1500's on the Fire Department. We also have some HD's 3500 that are the chassis for our ambulance(s). I have had all them up to 100 mph or darn near many times. Amazing how well they perform under pressure. We do not have any fancy modifications made to these vehicles other than rubber upgrades. I am not advocating driving at those speeds I am just stating the vehicles are more than capable.

Please save your opinions about emergency driving at these speeds. I have yet to hear from a person stuck in a burning building that we showed up "too quickly".

You drive Chevy 1500s @ 100mph to arrive to a burning building? My opinion is that you better have backup on the way to show up at the scene of your own department's accidents because these trucks shouldn't be going 100 mph!

I've had enough of the bickering. As someone who knows many first responders, I don't take kindly to uninformed people making judgements against them like this.
