Which tires come on Denali with All Terrain 20"?

I have read that different brand tires come on the new trucks depending on what is ordered. I chose the All Terrain option which was $200 more. Anyone know which tires I should expect?

I may have made a poor choice then. I won't have it off road much but figured the All Terrain tires would be better than All Season. I've never been a big fan of Goodyear. But, I think they were on one of my Duramax trucks & lasted a long time.

If they ever build the truck, I'll be interested in seeing how they perform.

They're Goodyear AT sra- and they've been pretty good for me thus far. It's definitely not a true "off road" all terrain tire though

Yea. They are more of an "all season" tire rather than all terrain. They do ok on the road, but I dont think they would do well offroad.

Other than looks - what's the infatuation w/ the All terrain tires? I mean 90% of the people running these trucks all jacked up and on huge tires aren't actually offloading w/ them....and if you were you'd still be better off in a jeep wrangler w/ (no pun intended but totally intended) Goodyear wrangler tires!

I'm doing the opposite of a lot of folks here. I'm keeping the perfectly roadworthy and "free" Goodyears on my truck and instead of throwing them out and wasting my money I'm buying a dedicated set of snow tires/rims.

Unless I intentionally and willingly sought out a crazy situation where I'd get stuck in the mud w/ my stock Goodyears I can't ever see myself saying, "dang, wish I got a set of those sweet nittos right about now" Would never happen.

What can and will happen up in New England though is me driving back from one of my sites in Maine and heading smack into a blizzard white out conditions, or black ice, freezing rain, sub zero temps- you get the idea.

In these realistic conditions Monster truck tires will leave you stuck in a ditch or unable to stop/turn/corner effectively like the rest of the crowd. Sure you'll probably be able to get moving no problem especially w/ 4WD, but when comes down to evasive maneuvers/panic stops etc you're screwed.

^{My wife and I both have the Goodyear Wrangler 20 inch SRA tires on our LTZ 4x4 Silverado's. They seem to be good tires. They ride real smoothe and are not noisy. They are probably not the best tire for off road but will do what most people that drive a $50,000 truck want to do.}

My truck just came in today. Picking it up tomorrow and it has Goodyear wrangler AT/S.

A set of BFG KO T/A or other all terrain tires will let you handle steep sandy hills, rocks, snow, etc., with panache, where the stock tires would be struggling dramatically. The stock "all season" tires are especially bad in the snow.

My 4WD / AWD vehicles spend a lot of time in the mountains and good all terrain tires make all the difference between smooth, confident driving and finding yourself on the wrong end of a tow hook.

Stock tires are intended to provide only a few characteristics:

1. Inexpensive

2. Good fuel economy

3. Quiet ride

Offroad traction isn't even an afterthought. :-)

Double check that. Last time GM used the AT/S was on 07-13 17" wheel trucks and...Goodyear doesn't make the AT/S in a 275/55/20. Should be the Wrangler SR-A.

No - don't get me wrong I'm not saying that offroad tires don't serve a purpose if you're USING them the way they're intended, but form where I'm sitting and when I see shiny perfectly clean undercarriage trucks rocking nitto terra grapplers, well - its just about as nuts as me driving around on mickey thompsons every day acting like I live at a dragstrip. There's a time and place for those tires, but you know the vast majority of people rocking them rarely use them for what they're designed for.

I did notice these Wrangler SRA's are bad in the cold weather and slip a good amount w/ cold weather + rain, so I can imagine snow would be even worse which is why I'm getting some nice snows, and I want to keep the stock 20"s in good shape. But as far as unpaved roads, highway/city driving, the wranglers seem fine to me - handling is pretty good in the dry, and they're quiet.

So what kind of tires come standard with the 275/55/20? Are the Bridgestone Dueler Alenzas still out there. That has been a great tire on our Tahoe. 60k miles and probably at least another 20k left.
