Main reason I would go with a mac right now is because windows 8 blows and was designed for tablets not laptops. This is coming from someone who owns no apple computers only a iphone and ipad mini.

Really just go with mac because you dont like the os? Just format the partition and install whatever you like,, XP, vista, win 7.

For $90 you can put windows 7 on. Not a big deal.

Actually for some people it is and the last thing they want to do and 9 times out of 10 don't know how to do is reformat their brand new laptop essentially ruining the warranty it would come with and any tech support also. Sure for the power pc user this is no big deal but to someone looking to buy a laptop and use it for the next 5 years without a hitch my opinion is without question 100% go with a mac product. You get what you pay for these days imo.

Maybe without a hitch if you don't mind going to the apple wizards or whatever they call them every 3 weeks. Most people I know with macs have to go to the apple geek squad more than once (usually for issues caused by the confusing gui and weird menus).

If you want to hook up to your tv, you need an adapter. If you want to play a DVD, you need a drive. If you want to run virtually any software that isn't photo editing you have to dig for a mac version or run it thru windows on the mac.

My XPS was $1200, and you can't compare some $300 laptop to a $2500 macbook. I ran a boot contest with my grandmas new imac, and my 3 year old laptop won. The mac had crazy issues with popups in safari as well. I wouldn't have an issue with macs if they weren't so crappy for how much you pay. My Dell came with everything I need to plug in the laptop to a projector, why would anyone make a laptop without an HDMI port?!

I'm not some rocket scientist, it doesn't take a genius to install a new OS, youtube can teach virtually anyone in 10 minutes.

My pc i made can boot into windows 7 in about 7-9 seconds.

We dont need to know how little your uh boot is. If someone wants a mac they can get one. Hell i want a mac for my office, but not a laptop. I also want a dual monitor built PC for my office. Macs are PC's. It is the truth. They are no different on the inside. They run off the same intel chipsets, processors, and graphics cards. They have been the same for a long time. The only thing that makes a Mac different is the OS and the price tag. Macs were different and better than windows based computers back when they ran on IBM's PowerPC architecture, but those days are long gone

You cant even upgrade anything on a mac without voiding the warranty! What if you want to add a ssd, or pci-e card! Maybe even add some ram. With a mac its not like you can just add whatever you want.

Your mac book isn't as great as you make it out to be. The alienware is a very high end laptop made by dell that could easily outperform an apple. Also my desktop has an audio card thats at least 10 times more powerful than any APU that apple makes on computers, it even has swappable OP amps and a very nice amount of APU ram, it even uses real gold on the PCB board. You may like apple but the stuff is very cheaply made in mass production.

The age old PCvsMAC argument. Like comparing Apples to Oranges ( no pun intended ) Apple controls the hardware and software so in essence their system will TECHNICALLY perform better. Both have their pros and cons so arguing this point is really silly. MACs for graphics and other media related tasks. PC for games and some media tasks

I have spent so many years wasting my money on different types of affordable lap-tops. I can say without a doubt that my macbook is better than all of them combined. The system takes a little to get used to but overall its the best thing you can do for yourself. You don't have to ever worry about viruses or issues making your computer slow. plus if you buy a mac care package, your computer will be insured for 3 years. even if you sell your laptop(which has an amazing re-sale value) the care package will go with the laptop.

Unix is still open to bugs/infections/malware ( ShellShock ) http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201393

Microsoft based operating systems are targeted more and usually make headlines because there is more of them

You people are arguing points of both systems like there is a war to win. If i wanted an easy to use tight package of a laptop for my kid or grandmother to use I would by a MacBook. If I wanted a decently powered workstation replacement for IT work I would buy a Windows based machine ( Dell, HP, Surface )

If I wanted to play Games I would buy an Alienware or other gamer oriented machine

If I was going to do media related work, occasional web surfing and use for movies/netflix... I'd buy a macbook no questions asked.

Would you buy a ferrari to take off road? No, you'd buy a truck... would you buy a Truck to drive 100 miles each way in southern cali back and forth to work? You could, but a prius may suit your needs better...

Each has their own niche, each has their pros and cons. Quit arguing and buy what works for you.

    • Missing pieces of the Assembly   Detergency vs Solvency   Not the same thing. Detergency is the mechanism that surrounds solid particulates preventing amalgamation. Usually accompanied by a Dispersant whose job it is to keep those encapsulated particles in Suspension. Solvency keeps things that can be dissolved in solution.    Salt is a solid that can be dissolved. Pepper is a solid that cannot be dissolved. A detergent/dispersant is effective on pepper but a solvent is more effective on salt. As long as the solids remain in either state, dissolved or dispersed then they can be be removed with the oil upon change.    How many wranglers does it take to herd cats? Depends on how many cats your herding. How much sponge does it take to soak up water? How much water is there to soak up? Point is most oil blends start with some herding ability and next to zero sponge and recently even fewer wranglers are being sent to do the same job.    So you start with a dozen cowboys and zero cows but at the drive progresses you pick up cows along the way, but not cowboys. At some point you have more cows that the wranglers can handle and some leave the herd. Deposits. And the API has an acceptable number of cows they are willing to let loose. In the ideal world zero is the right number for he rancher but to the butcher....a few lost is fine. This cow is beat to death. Let's move on....   Solvency isn't something oils on the Walmart shelf care about AT ALL. Problem is, you motor does. Fuels driven varnish sticks rings and only a solvent can keep them in check. The bet is that the solids driven portion that plug the expander rings and the oil drain backs and VVT screens and AFM screens will be an issue long before varnish is. Not that it wont be but if they market well enough the consumer can be kept ignorant enough to either believe it is "normal" (A quart in 1 or 2K is normal) OR is kept at bay longer than the first owner is likely to hang on to the unit. Solvency cost money.    Now the OEM's have John Q. Public buffaloed into the belief that the number cows accumulated along the trail is a known and predictable CONSTANT. It isn't. Nor is the rate at which they crossed paths with them. Only the number of wrangles is constant. Or was. Each new generation of oil sees fewer and fewer of them.    So what happens when the number of cowboys is lower (lower TBN) with each seasons trail but the trial is longer (OCI) and the number of cows along that trail continues increase? (Conditions that promote deposits).    For awhile the blenders were on to something. Better bases are harder to degrade (fewer cows) but that was overtaken by a longer trail (OCI) and improved breeding (More cows) while continuing to reduce the cowboy staffing levels (TBN/Aniline #).    Marketing has been successful. We've fired most of the staff, cows breed line bunnies, the trail is ten times longer and we've convinced the boss his ranch is in better shape that it ever was.    That kids is just the cleaning side. The side few pay attention to.

    • Looking for this part for my truck. They don't sell just that one piece and to get it you have to pay over $100 even used for the whole air tube. The piece the hose clamp snaps into that is held on by the screw and nut. If anyone has access to one please let me know.
