2014 w/6.2 dual exhaust?

I'm brand new to the forum, recently ordered a new Denali CC w/6.2. Now with all the shouts about the highest HP in a 1/2 ton PU wouldn't you think that dual exhaust would be included in the 2K add on price over the 5.3???? I'd even settle for the fake duals your see on just about all cars these days, RAM hemi trucks in the upper price range come standard with duals, what's with that?

Kudos to GM for following function over form; the single exhaust for the 6.2 as provided from the factory does its job quite well! A polished tip will add the bling for those so inclined (yeah, I have one...).

You have got to be kidding me! Have you ever seen a race car or truck that did not have dual exhaust? Dragsters have a tube for every cylinder! Every perfomance vehicle has them! It all comes down to the corporate "bean counters." I guess thats why we have all the aftermarket companies.

If you think going to dual exhaust vs same muffler in a single on a new pickup is going to make any difference in power more power to you. Your pickup isn't running 20 psi of boost and 3 stage nitrous.

 

The aftermarket companies are there to sell to people who don't know any better too.

Nascar neither runs nitro or blowers! Neither is my new Corvette C-7 with the same motor as the new trucks, Strangly enough, it has duals. Since they are selling like hotcakes, I guess a lot of us know nothing, unlike you?

The exhaust will flow better w/ the dual setups provided by many aftermarket outfitters, but you're not going to see any acual benefit from them power-wise unless you add a true CAI, headers w/ hi-flow cats or no cats at the minimum all working in conjunction together.

That being said, it just looks/sounds WEAK to have and GM smallblock V8 equipped vehicle without a finished tip in the least let alone a dual exit, the fact you have to pay extra for the polished tip is nonsense, all V8's should have that.

LOL @ GM choosing "form over function" for their trucks, this is the same GM that makes a "Denali" truck that amounts to nothing more than badges and a fancy gauge cluster - the lack of a dual exhaust and proper tips is 100% a cost saving measure to reduce raw material cost of stainless going into the vehicle's production.

 

IMO - If you're not going to do a true catback exhaust (a borla, magnaflow, flowmaster, corsa, bassani, etc. would sound sweet on that 6.2) then I'd simply opt out of spending the extra $100 on the stupid GM tip and just get an aftermarket muffler (like a magnaflow or borla) along w/ an aftermarket tip and have it added on delivery.

 

My opinion - the real reason they didn't add a good exhaust to the 5.3 or 6.2 is because the AFM function can sound horrific if not muffled properly so rather than spend money on R&D coming up w/ a dual/better flowing/sounding exhaust (like the vette w/ the same motor) they just cut cost and put the same style system across the board.

Except in the 80's GM trucks had 190 hp, this one has a true corvette motor w/ 420hp.....
