The "I enjoy the hell out of my 2014" Thread

I bought my Black 2014 Silverado Crew 4x4 on Black Friday. Love this truck! I have owned Chevy trucks my whole life including 1979 custom deluxe, 1983 stepside 4x4, 1996 extra cab 4x4, 1999 extra cab 4x4, 2003 extra cab 4x4, 2006 Crew cab 4x4, and 2011 Crew cab 4x4. All have been great trucks in their own time. I got lucky and got a real steal on the 2014 that I couldn't pass up. As I only had about 20K on my 2011, I really wasn't in the market for a new truck. One stop into the dealership and an aggressive salesman took care of that!

The truck is comfortable, it rides like it on air. I am blown away by the power it has and the mileage it gets. I have the 5.3 (as I did in my 2011) and I am a bit of a lead foot. I drive around a Hybrid car all wekk, so when I get into my truck, I love to stomp on the gas way too much and listen to the engine roar. My 2011 was getting about 13.5 MPG and now my 2014 gets 16.5 average combined. I haven't taken any long road trips with it yet, but I am happy with the increased mileage. That will go away as soon as I pull the trigger on the 6 inch lift and 35's pretty soon. It is a sacrafice, but man have you seen how these beasts look lifted? Incredible!

The hands free system works great, much better than the Ford system I have in my work car. IMO they really stepped it up with the luxury features in this truck. I like to treat my truck like a truck and get it coated with mud, but also enjoy cleaning it up and babying it afterwords. This truck will do great getting to some hard to get to hunting spots and can double up as a nice ride around town too.

I have 2,000 miles on it so far and, unfortunately, have never had it in 4 wheel drive yet! It's been a bust couple of months, but I will give it a whirl as soon as turkey season comes around in April. I also haven't tinkered with alot of the advanced features yet and have learned quite a bit by just reading through this forum.

Did I mention I love this truck?

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only "older gentleman" that enjoys modding his truck. My wife seems to believe that I'll outgrow it sooner or later but probably NOT. :) Glad to hear you're enjoying your new truck as much as I am mine!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Here's another one of the "old" guys. Hell, I'll be 68 in July and no one loves bling more than me. I'm frustrated now because the aftermarket guys are not moving fast enough to develop the chrome trim I need for my Denali. I can honestly say I have owned exactly 67 (I have a chronological list) vehicles in my lifetime but I don't remember enjoying any of them as much as I enjoy my Denali. There is absolutely no down side to this truck. I'll just be happier when I can get my mods completed. My wife also thought I would outgrow it, but Ithink she finally threw in the towel, because it does seem as though I'm getting worse instead of better.

Not sure why it posted that small?? Here it is again.

Had my truck for 10 days/450 miles. No issues that I have seen posted on here and I really like it. Keep finding excuses to make a ride to the store, etc.

I ordered the leveling kit and tinted the windows. Looking at running boards now.

I really like the smooth ride, comfortable interior and the mylink radio. I have not tried to play video on it, but I'd imagine you would have to use a HD and not a phone?

Yeah I did the same thing. Volunteered for every store run or arrant. lol

You can play video of the sd card, thumb drive or external hard drive. I suggest you format to NTFS or fat32 for best results.

The video should be MP4 format

My wife just smiles when UPS delivers another package. Just installed a Bowtie Bedrug. The WeatherTech liner worked fine, but I kept scratching the sides of the bed. I know, I know...its a truck bed. Its supposed to be scratched. You could say it was an excuse to do something else. I liked the way the Bedrug looked in pictures from others here and saw it in person at the dealer. Found a good buy on eBay from a dealer in New Orleans. And the mods continue...

I find it humorous how many times I have read that these trucks are still behind in the times and lacking any real innovations when my buddies who any and every other variety of truck out there are blown away at everything from the looks, stereo, nav, and every other trinkent they wish they had. It is a luxary vehicle that pulls enough, is fast enough, quiet enough, looks great, and is a real pleasure to drive.

im not too impressed..maybe the interior but the 5.3 is powerless and it shifts gears all over the place..Its ok wen i drive it in manual to force it from shifting so much

Only problem is vibration issue witch was fixed with new tires..Its just ok...I think i go gmc 6.2 once this lease is done cant wait till 2017..lol

Sounds like you have the 3.08 rear end. I love my 3.42. I came from a 2011 5.0 Mustang with 420hp and I'm impressed with the 5.3 in these trucks.

Hmmm. That's weird. It's usually the 3.08 guys that talk about the constant shifting. Hope things work out for ya in the long run.

I enjoyed my truck before but now it's a different animal. Got a Corsa cat back and dyno tuned today. No more gutless starts and no more annoying shifts:)

I have only one problem with my truck (CC, LTZ, 6.2L). Seems to be something wrong with the rear view mirrors. This problem seem to manifest itself at about the 500 mile mark. Ever since then, it seems like images in my rear view mirrors get very small, very fast, and in no time I can hardly tell what they are! Any ideas :)
