High Country vs Ltz Z71

Recommended Posts

I'm about to withdraw my order for the 6.2L z71 Ltz and go with a 6.2l high country that's on a dealers lot. 12 weeks or more to order a truck is too long.

So what's everyone's opinion? Brown leather is meh for me but the rims and chrome grill on the High Country is growing on me.

What else is different about them? Z60 shocks vs z71? Are both trucks the same height off the ground?

Z60 is the on road performance suspension. I love the grille on the high country. I saw go for it

I'd go with the LTZ personally. I am not a fan of the brown High Country interior. Actually, it's not so much the color but the white piping. It looks

out of place to me. My tastes aside, if you can land a HC at a good price, go for it!

The z 60 seems to ride a little smoother. The z 71 is just a little stiffer. I have one of each. But to be honest if I was blindfolded and did not know which truck I was riding in, I don't think I could really tell the difference.

Also I have ordered 3 new trucks/SUVs and none have taken 12 wks for delivery.

I do like the brown leather of the high country. I do not know what Chevy's love affair with chrome is. The LTZ already has too much. Of course there are those that like the chrome which is great. It's just cheap and gaudy looking to me. I would not choose the 20 inch rims because they are chrome. I wish there was a high content version without the chrome....Z71 comes closest.

The springs on the front & rear are the exact same part number on both trucks. The shocks are the only difference. GM doesn't offer the "premium smooth ride" option like they did back on the 99'-06' trucks. The only different springs that I could find any different were for the Max Tow Package trucks. I'm sure they will be the harshest of all due to the stiffer springs and shocks. I've been considering changing out the Rancho Z-71 shocks for some High Country shocks myself. The Z-71 does offer the Hill Decent Control if you plan on really going off road on some steep inclines. I had it on my Jeep Rubicon which was a marvelous tool when 4 wheeling. I've used it on my Silverado a couple of times, but it doesn't seem as refined as it was on my Jeep although the crawl ratio of the jeep was so low that it probably integrated smoother. You also have the skid plate package in the Z-71 and you can always change out a grille and paint some bumpers if ya want that. I liked the High Country too ,but I only buy black interiors since I have ruined a couple of brown or tan vehicles with it. Just my .02

Like others, I am not a fan of the light seat piping or the baseball glove colored seats. Also the embroidered headrest doesn't do anything for me.

All the above is my opinion, yours may be different and that's OK!

I got the LTZ Z71 with cocoa and dune interior. Best of both worlds to me. Enough chrome to look nice while still having a tough look to it. Just my opinion, though. The summit white pulls off the Z71 look better than white diamond does. The white diamond should have the chrome grille standard as Mzodarg did.

If you look at the event code 3100 thread the are a lot of us over 10 weeks of waiting and they havent even bothered to build them yet. So figure a month more at least by the time they build and ship pits us over 14 weeks. And thats if were lucky.

I would go for the LTZ, not a big fan of the brown interior. And I wouldn't mind waiting the 12 weeks to ensure I'm getting exactly what I want
